Perhaps a sagey gray green? Is it truly purple or more of a cordovan color (which is how it reads on my monitor)? If it's a cordovan, one could do a lot of things to make it work if you like the color. I have a F&B color called "Pelt" in my guest room. I used white woodwork, white bed spreads, and yellow/white plaid taffeta for festoon blinds, dust ruffles and headboards. It looks fabulous.

Your art work is quite vibrant and if you painted the walls a simple white and accent with the dominant color in the painting your room will be very striking. That being said I truly think the high contrast of white would be stunning but if you want a color I would consider the dominant color of blue in the painting......but a very pale version of the blue. If you want some more energy in the room, then accessorize with the second most dominant color in the painting for cushions, rugs, sideboard, lamps etc. But I really wonder if the art work will be big enough for the wall you have it leaning against......seems like art is really big these days and I think recommendation is art should be 2/3 width of wall it is hung on....I would double check and see if there are recommendations for size....if you wanted to widen the art then another piece or two to make a large gallery wall would be nice with the addition of two more painting on the same theme in smaller sizes..... Here are some art and wall combinations....you just want to make sure the art demands attention and not the wall. Try hanging different sizes of butcher paper in art sizes and see what looks the best to you. Half the men are color blind and the other half well, they're just not into color. I bet if you asked him he'd say blue is his favorite color. Go get some paint samples (which is a must anyway) and put them on the walls. Don't call them by name just number them and ask him which one he likes best.

Hi Catherine Altenburger , Any paint color is greatly affected by light type & source. In rooms that are well lit by natural light, it's probably okay to use some darker shades. Inversely, use lighter shades in rooms with less natural light. If you already have a pewter color, stick to tones of that color to achieve a more cohesive look.
