Wallpaper in a Boring Hallway: Yay or Nay?
Comments (19)I don't know what that is at the end of the hallway (first picture) but it's partly mirror. You can see the reflection of the light fixtures and some wallpaper at the top and the floor towards the bottom. Weird. I love wallpaper and glad to see it making a come-back. We have no hallways in our house but if we did, I wouldn't be opposed to wallpapering it. It would have to be a lighter color and more of a tone on tone. Love the grayish beige paper with the oak floor. Several years ago (2004) we redid our daughter's bedroom. One wall had wallpaper on it. The 70something year old texture guy said he could probably just texture over the wallpaper :o What??? After he inspected it he said not to bother trying to remove it, he could go over it. I don't know how much I had gotten off. Maybe all the top decorative layer (the easy part). Well he went right over it and NO one but NO one can tell there is wallpaper under that texture. No issues what so ever and it's been 12 years....See MoreGuest rooms...yay or nay?
Comments (14)I like most of them. I've always had a queen-size bed in the guest room, but I like the idea of two twins. The two twins provide more versatility. But I suppose it really depends on the combinations of guests you host most regularly. One thing I'll say about those rooms -- they almost all seem much larger than any guest room I've ever had. Like jn3344 said, my guest room tends to hold some of those things I can't bear to part with, but won't fit elsewhere (currently a chair, a cedar chest and an antique filing cabinet). Once I accommodate those things, there's not much room left for design extras....See Moreyay or nay to wall pictures? too busy?
Comments (22)Cawaps....actually, I don’t disagree with you at all! There can be art on a wall that makes quite a statement and is VERY prominent ....and it looks absolutely gorgeous, but these prints are somehow distracting/prominent in a different way which is why I thought it might be the color. I do love big art. I have to add though that sometimes when viewing a photograph, things can appear much more glaring and in your face which is not necessarily the way they would look had you seen them in person. But.....since the op was having second thoughts about them, it’s possible that the way they appear in the photo is fairly accurate....See MoreColor Combination - Yay or Nay?
Comments (48)@Susan Ricciardi, you need some storage in an entryway, and a landing spot for keys and such. I would place a storage cabinet off-center so it is half under the window closest to the door, and half under the mirror (raise the mirror up a bit), and then place the bench or a stool or small chair between the storage cabinet and your painting wall. I would go with a sculptural chair, placed at an angle to the corner. Place the tall vase on the left hand side of your cabinet surface, under the window. The height will balance the mirror. Put some gorgeous branches in your vase. Cabinets: light, grayish wood with black base. I like the one with the ceramic top because you can throw your hand bag and phone down and not worry about t scratching anything. Inexpensive and fun: Sculptural: or go for a pop of contrasting color: or just some nice vertical lines:...See Moregraywings123
