hoya bella fragrant?
Comments (8)Lol IspahanÂYouÂre the one who originally told me about obscura, and were you ever right! I can smell even the tiniest flower cluster before seeing it and just want to stand and breathe it in. And frequently do! "Underrated" is right. Why donÂt catalogs give this one the praise it deserves? It even seems to bloom off and on all year. Glad you mentioned that bella doesnÂt waft for you. DoesnÂt for me, either. Was a little surprised to read in another post that you like your lacunosa, because mine has a slight off-note. DoesnÂt bother me too much, but your nose seems more refined than mine. You mentioned that yours was a form from Lankawi IslandÂdo you think that one is better than the others? Your fragrant houseplant list has been worth its weight in gold because IÂve found you were dead-on with all IÂve tried so far. Neomarica is one of the last couple I havenÂt tried yet, but hope to get one this spring. Glad to hear what you said about parva, because I have one (with a questionable I.D.) thatÂs still small. Hope itÂs an easy bloomerÂ!?! My latest love is a little pink cyclamen with a delicate tea rose fragrance. DoesnÂt waft much, but have found thatÂs one that will bloom continuously as long as itÂs kept moist. Has to be pitched for summer, but you've gotta love a plant that seems thrilled with Midwestern winters!...See MoreHoya bella blasting buds
Comments (9)Bella is a cool temp. growing hoya, so make sure it isn't exposed to high or dry heat. I never could get this one to be happy for me, but I have it's tiny leaved cousin (chinghungensis) growing and thriving, hanging under the skylight in my kids' bathroom. Bella (and chinghungensis) likes to be kept lightly damp, but not drippy/soggy. Growing semi-hydro seems to work well, but I make the reservoir shallower (1/2-3/4 inch for bella/chinghungensis vs. the standard 1-1 and 1/2 inch reservoir for other hoyas) because the roots seem more shallow and more sensitive to growing in the water. This is probably a defense mechanism due to them being cooler climate growers....See MoreNew arrival and Hoya Bella cutting question
Comments (2)You can root your bella in whatever medium you use without the need for rooting hormone. Unless it's a super porous mix that doesn't hold moisture well, then I'd think you might need some hormone. Either way, you can get the plant in some potting medium to get it in the mood to root, then pull it out and apply hormone when you get some. I wouldn't wait too long, though. Loving the veins on finlaysonii! Gorgeous!...See MoreHoya Bella talk / need sources on care info
Comments (0)I have been growing my Hoya Bella for about four years now. I started having problems this summer. It’s been is it’s pot for the entire four years, so that may be part of the problem. It is in a lechuza puro color 20. It’s loosing a lot of leaves. I had it in an east facing window when it started looking bad. I felt it was getting too hot. It’s now in a south window getting indirect light. It’s looking better but still on the downhill. I’m trying to root cuttings in water. I’m on day two so I won’t know if it worked for a week or so I’m guessing. These photos are from when it was doing well this spring. Does anyone know if the leaves ever grow back? I feel like they won’t. I have a lot of bare vine. My plan is to repot using lechuza pon. I’ve started misting for humidity. I don’t see any spider mites. Im curious to see how the roots look. Any Bella specific info or articles would be appreciated. I’ve exhausted google search....See MoreKlnco
