Hemerocallis fulva, known as tiger day lily or ditch lily

I really enjoy ditch lilies, remember them from my childhood when we used to ride bikes on the country roads. I have some in my garden that must have just appeared or my Uncle planted many, many years ago. One Fall I cut them all down to the ground like I normally do with my Day Lilies, it's a funny thing but they have never recovered enough to bloom since! And that has been a long time ago. Also have two clumps with double blooms. I had to transplant one, split it in two, when I had the barn foundation leveled. One clump blooms, the other still hasn't. Then another grew in the sunken garden under a big juniper shrub, bloomed for years but finally got crowded out. I need to transplant.

Daylily on steroids. It should look like the ones in the background. Apparently it was tasty. The next morning it was gone, along with all the buds around it. Bambi did a lot of browsing over night.
