Comments (57)My James Galway says thank you :) The rain that we received helps everything perform its best. I think all Californians feel blessed with their garden this spring. Even though DA roses are beautiful, many of them have similar looks so if I see petal packed DA roses that look unique, repeat, last well in a vase like James Galway, The Wedgewood Rose, etc. I want them in my garden. Jo - I learned how to be patient with Scepter'd Isle (grafted on Dr. Huey). The first two years, it had no fragrant and less petals and had plenty of powdery mildew. In the third year, it's a perfect rose. The highly fragrance blooms have many petals as the picture's when I decided to order it. While other roses next to it have powdery mildew, it has none. Right now James Galway is 8 ft height and 4 ft wide. It can go wider if you train it horizontal. That's an empty spot I could find for a climbing rose so I squeezed James Galway between a wall and my husband's orange tree. He always teases me saying that there's no room and I still could squeeze in a rose so his orange tree has no room to grow. I told him that since I water my roses often, his orange tree is benefited from the extra water, lol. I'm glad to hear Geoff Hamilton is a great bloomers. Mine is still small but it blooms a lot, too. I love its petal packed blooms. Helen...See MoreMy Maryland rose garden 2018
Comments (73)Purple skyliner was a tiny band and bloomed in its second year. Its 2-3 feet tall now. Sweet Pegge, bloomed twice the first year. Didn't have that many petals but that is probably because of the heat. Seems to be blackspot resistant. In a half barrel pot. Quicksilver, third season, had 3 flushes. Mine is in a tight spot, probably partial shade. Loses some leaves in July. Others have gotten bigger flushes from having theirs in full sun. Lots of petals pretty deep lavender color. Last blooms were in November, might have been in full shade at that point because my backyard faces north. 7 ft tall, flexible canes. Florentina, third season, 3 flushes. First flush was amazing, covered in blooms, I cut 10 for a bouquet and it still had flowers left on the bush. Its in a better location than Quicksilver so more flowers per flush and completely blackspot resistant. 7 ft tall, flexible canes. First crush is from Lowes, 3rd season. May 2017 rained a lot but it opened fine, May 2018 rained a lot and it balled. I guess the temp was the difference. That's why I don't have full bush pictures this year. Summer Romance, from Lowes, 3rd season. Always has an amazing spring flush, even in the rain. Gets super tall by the end of the season, probably 6 feet. Not that many blooms the rest of the season, would probably do better with more sun....See MorePlumeria Girl (Florida ,9b)
