What size entry rug?
Comments (3)I'd agree with debb but would also add that the function is important as well. In our harsh climate we have a very small rug (2'x3' maybe) sitting right in front of the door so that you can get in with wet boots and take them off immediately. The balance of the area (about 7 x 10) is taken up with a mosaic rug (marble that looks like carpet). We did this because the marble rug is indestructable when covered with wet boots, and the water won't ruin our floors in the entry. The addition of many many many grout lines within the mosaic makes the area non slip as well. I've entered many houses here for parties and with all of the outside shoes piled in the entry, it gets wet and the marble and slate entry's always get really slippery. This is a summer or early fall picture when we don't have the little carpet in front of the door....See MoreRug: size/color for my entryway?
Comments (11)Thanks for your reply my3dogs... Our entryway ended up smaller than I originally wanted - the width is 57" so 5x8 is just barely too wide. Ah! I'm thinking an indoor/outdoor made of polypropylene. Yes...the ability to wipe feet is needed...we live in Michigan. This area is pretty much only used for guests, though, so it isn't heavily trampled on... The dash and Albert runners are 2'5" so are a touch wider than many I've seen at just 2". This is tricky!...See MoreHelp with entryway rug size!
Comments (31)A more put-together width for the hallway rug would be a "runner". The furniture would be off the carpet. Runners can come in very long lengths. If it were me, I'd make it almost the length of the hallway, but from photos, it's hard to judge what doors, etc. you have at the end. I'm not sure what your tastes are, but judging from the current rug, an oriental might work for you. I'd pick up the shade of the wood floor in an oriental rug with saturated colors....See MoreWhat size and shape rug for entryway/ foyer? Advice please
Comments (3)Definitely too small! I am also not loving the round shape. I would get a larger rectangle rug and lay it so the length runs perpendicular with the entry door. Something similar to this......See Moredecoenthusiaste
