TV unit not centered on wall
Comments (9)I think I'll play around with artwork placement - try putting the artwork on the left side. I do need to get more tables and I don't have any lamps in my room! I've been thinking of bookcases too but I don't know how to make it right. I had thought of getting one of those giant expensive media centers (like from PBK) but I'm not sure if there will always be a television in the LR. I've been thinking of getting a different TV stand. What do you think of it? I know it's cheap but I think it would have a slimmer profile than what I currently have. The only thing is that the TV would be exposed. Any input would be appreciated. Astrid Here is a link that might be useful: different tv stand...See MoreWall across from kitchen - tv or fireplace? Comments (16)I prefer to see TV. Usually if I'm in the kitchen, I'm cooking, and I enjoy hearing/seeing the TV while I cook or clean up. Our kitchen and great room form one long corridor separated by a 14' arched doorway. If you put your arms out to your side, and pointed one hand at the cooktop, the other hand would be pointed directly at the fireplace 60 feet away. And I don't want a tv in the kitchen... ...but I like to watch TV while I'm cooking, not watch an unused fireplace (largely...). BUT - I am not a fan of wall-mount TVs. Our solution will be (we move in this week) to place the TV on a corner stand between the fireplace and wall. The fireplace wall will house some artwork I love... so I'll always have something enjoyable to look at. And the TV will be clearly visible without having to be mounted over the mantel....See MoreBetter placement for a TV?
Comments (9)Actually, i had suggested two walls - the one next (left) to fireplace & then the one to left of window - has the round mirror on it in the staging photo - which is the spot WestCoast dislikes. What I really think is @Homeprop should move in, play around with furniture arrangements - the sofa primarily - and once settled on which positon works for flow through that room, then & only then, buy the TV that fits whichever wall the sofa faces. I have to say that I’m not a fan of the Sofa sitting on wall with the double wide door way & window as shown in photo. Room feels too long & narrow - but that’s bc no other furniture in there yet....See MoreBetter placement for the TV?
Comments (10)part II, Just trying to bring in some elements to warm up all that gray. for the lights, don't know if you like gold, black, glam, farmhouse or more modern Georgia and Lulu rug (they have lots of colors. or try CostPlus World market. cheaper) Against the wall I gave you a walnut console, but you could also do something like this in a white, gray or black If you prefer the TV over on the wall, it would look similar to this^ But you'd have to do a longer type of unit. I really like this one. this is too yellow for your gray theme, so it would need to be a diff color. or, try a console like this, no tv (do art or a mirror) bring in plants and other elements like this pic Those current counter stools you have are too dark and the wrong style. I gave you two in the first pic I photoshopped of your kitchen area. I like the woven loom type of chair, or, the backless one I stuck in the picture are like mine, shown here. I have the similar white/gray and marble, but I brought in the warmer wood elements and color w/my art. I have the black leather sofa and bench, lighter rug, leather pouf, etc. If you like the black accents, you could do your fireplace wall in black, or charcoal, or any other color. You could also position the furniture shown here, along w/the rug^ Or, what about this one? has a more modern light, open shelving next to window, and a thicker, dark shiplap over the fireplace. cooler tones that are similar to your house. notice the light. the chair and wood tables. if you kept your sofa facing the fireplace, you could do side table, sofa table like shown, and a few chairs....See MoreKate O'Toole
