Kraus SS Farmhouse sink
Comments (4)Jillsee - I think you are thinking of the fireclay apron front sinks, not stainless. There have been several posts about the fireclay sinks being harder to install because they are handmade and irregular. So the scribing of the countertop around the fireclay apron sink is more difficult due to the irregularity. Also fireclay is really heavy, so needs to be supported properly. There's also a recent thread where someone reported that tightening the flange of their disposal created cracks in their fireclay. You won't have these issues with a stainless steel apron front sink. We were going to get a Kraus stainless sink cause we heard such great things about them. We ended up getting silgranit instead (not an apron front), but Kraus was a close second for us especially with all the great reviews of their sinks on Overstock. We did get a Kraus faucet, and are so pleased at the quality of it. Not just pleased, amazed at the quality of the faucet for such a good price. We bought at the website expressdecor, cause they were offering an additional 10% less than overstock for our Kraus faucet. The faucet has been installed for several months now, and has been flawless. I checked out your link. I am concerned that it is a double bowl sink in a 33" size. I would prefer a single bowl sink in that size so that you have a wide enough area to soak roasting pans, cookie sheets and the like. If you like a double bowl style better, can you go to the Kraus 36" size? Kraus KHF203-36 double-bowl 36-inch farmhouse sink (pictured with the faucet KPF-1602 we bought!) Comments (15)I have the 36" single bowl Kraus farmhouse, installed for maybe a month now. So far it has been WoNDERFUL!! We just had our granite installed this weekend and I was wondering if that would shift the way it drained but that has not been the case. If I plug the sink and fill it with water, all the water drains out, it does have slightly sloped bottom interior to make it drain. I do use the pull out sprayer to chase around crumbs that find their way into corners, but it drains nicely. I absolutely love my sink. I really wanted a white sink, but with my family, I knew it would get chipped, so I opted for the strength of stainless and the fact my husband preferred the stainless. Now that I have it, I do not feel it was second best, I really love it. 5 stars from me!...See More!!Rust Problem!!! with Kraus farmhouse sink stainless steel
Comments (60)good luck Missi. I would address the spots quickly. I see that the new ones that appear come off rather easily with a lemon and baking soda followed by a microfiber cloth. I went back over the heavier marks with barkeepers friend and microfiber and many of them came up... I'd be careful with barkeepers friend, though, as it did remove my finish on a few spots -- I may have wet the cloth too much with it. But I would also try the cleaner vinmark suggested. I feel a lot better knowing I can change that sink out if I find the right person to do it so I'm not as upset as I was before. I had a Franke, Dawn and Kohler -- this is all new to me. Never again with Amazon or overstock for me on anything I need to last. My lesson learned....See MoreKraus farmhouse sink?
Comments (17)Regarding Kraus faucets - note that some if not all are not lead-compliant. Matters for the law in California, for your health everywhere. Mercy - I'm not sure really how to judge the quality on an absolute basis; I've never had a ss sink myself so can't really compare. I think dents, maybe? And sound? rust? In comparison with my mothers' growing up, this is quieter and obviously heavier. The tight corners are not too tight as to make cleaning difficult. It's really deep which I like. It's not what I *ordered*! (another story), but I'm OK with it. It's the either 121 or 101 -- can't remember; I think the latter. Whatever it isn't is the one I ordered with 5 sides, but that was backordered and they sent the 4-sided one instead. (Did they think I wouldn't notice?). I think it's a fine option; feels very sturdy and with a nice wide outflow, though perhaps that's standard. I don't like the sink grid though! But it's possible I just don't really like grids at all. For years I hankered after them, never having really had one other than the plastic-coated aftermarket items you buy at Target. It's possible I just won't be liking any metal sink grid. Stuff falls through; can't fish it out, can't easily clean around it - annoying. I would agree the sink is exceptionally well boxed. I swear a huge proportion of these reviews focus on the sink's packaging though! I was pretty amused by this. I think you need someone who's had the sink for a few years to pipe up probably. But I don't know how long they've been around....See MoreUser
