There's no need to match the crib to the dresser.

The wall colour you have is calming, and it is beige-y. You could leave it this colour quite easily, or go one shade lighter than that.

No the crib doesn't need to match. I would not buy a crib that converts into a toddler bed though. In a few year when he is ready for a toddler bed, more than likely he will want a themed bed like a race car or whatever is the popular cartoon character at the time.

A hand-me-down is the best kind. Same for a toddler bed.

Just get a new mattress unless you are related to the donor.

And make sure there hasn't been a recall on that model for safety reasons.

We too used a hand me down dresser and used the large flat top as a changing table. DH is taller so he built a wood table to make it higher and save our backs. that gave us space between the dresser and table to hold changing essentials. Ours was maple the bed was "cheap china crap wood" my wood-worker husband would say and the rocker/glider was oak. No mathcy matchy here. We went animals/Noah's Ark too. I sewed/stuffed/velcroed a large Ark and many animals to the wall just above the table. I could easily had baby an animal to play with then return it to the wall after diapering. Worked slick, kept everyone busy and happy.
