Poll- knobs or pulls on doors?
Comments (20)LOL! I kept seeing your message and was wondering what "poll-knobs" were. I was thinking maybe the kind that are shaped more like pulls with a single screw. Now that I have time to read it I'm saying, "D'oh!" I have knobs on the slab doors, and most of the drawers (a few pulls on the island)....See MoreGables or no gables? Front elevation poll.
Comments (29)Given your height limit, I don't think there is a better option than a gambrel roof so don't throw the baby out with the bath water. It is quite possible to shorten the "dormer" elements as shown in my sketch since that only removes a dozen square feet of floor space at the second floor of the house which is a small price to pay to keep your current design scheme. Filling in the hollowed-out" gambrel gables and using shingles, narrow rake trim and no corner boards will give the house the appearance of the Shingle Style which IMO will make this a spectacular house. There is an easier solution for the two roof slopes: make them the same. If you think that would change the appearance of the side elevations, please show us those drawings and also show us a section drawing through the house with the roof slopes well labeled (I can't read any of the notes or dimensions on the drawings). I don't want to offend you but to me the skill level of your designer is below what I would expect from an architect. I don't care who you use but if he/she is not architect please don't use that title....See More8ft front door vs 6ft front door
Comments (19)We have 10’ ceilings and an 8’ door. We replaced the original wood, which had warped (south facing, but covered), with fiberglass. Ours is a 3-point lock custom door from Kolbe, without glass. We originally ordered clad, but they can’t make that in a panel door. Can’t even tell you what it cost because the guy at the lumberyard is a bit of a dolt and kept changing the order after discovering various things. Anyway, it’s a great door, secure and efficient....See MoreFront door color for double front entry full view storm doors with bla
Comments (9)People have storm doors because, they open doors and pull down the screen for air. A storm door has a security lock on it, for safety. Phantom screens are wrecked by children and pets go right through them and can escape your property and end lost or worse. I personally, would never ever be without storm doors on my house. I have very nice wood doors, and they are original to the house and still in excellent condition because they were protected with storm doors....See MoreCelery. Visualization, Rendering images
