A single standard door that matches the other doors in your townhouse would work better because you can hang shallow basket shelves on the inside, increasing the usable space.

Hardware isn't on but you get the idea. This is a closet but I have the same for the pantry across the hallway. Doors are the same size as the bifolds they replaced. Your lumber yard/supplier can help with door styles and sizes.

Like bbtrix, I also replaced the bi-fold doors on my pantry with double doors and it works perfectly.

Sharon- The last picture you posted shows barn doors, not pocket doors. ;)

You could go trendy with a barn door with some heavy industrial looking hardware, depending on what the rest of your space looks like. Or go classic pocket door. Or narrow the opening some and put in a traditional outswing door with storage racks/baskets on the back (as suggested above). Since you're already in a construction zone, you've got a lot of options!
