Hardie plank installation

Corie Gagliano
We had someone tell us that there should be a bead of caulk applied under each plank of Hardie board plank siding. The website only states that it is necessary to caulk the seams. This person says that it helps hide the ripple/waves in the boards. Does anyone know if the cement boards ripple or warp? Does caulking under the length of the board camouflage or prevent this? It doesn’t seem to be part of a “standard” installation but if it saves headache down the road, I would like to take the extra step. Thanks.
