Anybody know anything about the Poconos?

Looking for a mountain vacation--looking to go to and from NYC--any communities you really like? Has anyone heard of Bushkill Falls or Buck Hill Falls? Thanks.

Are you looking for a vacation home or somewhere to spend a week or two? My DH and I lived in Midtown when we bought a weekend house in Pike County. That was a long time ago--the start of what eventually became full-time living in PA. I've certainly heard of the spots you mention, but don't know anything about them. I drive through Milford once a year in summer, but never have time to stop. It looks busy and charming. I can say the same for Stroudsburg, which is bigger.

If you like jazz, you might look around the Delaware Water Gap (NJ) area, home of the Deer Head Inn, a jazz mecca, and some nice countryside.

Perhaps Maire_Cate will see this. She's more knowledgeable than I about the very eastern PA area.

I've driven through them many times and the scenery is lovely. I do remember the ads that used to be in the back of magazines offering cabins/rooms with "round beds", but that was many years ago.

When my DD live in NYC, they loved going to Mohonk Mountain House on the Hudson River (in NY state, not that far from NYC). It's a huge place and has been there for a very long time - my in-laws got engaged there in the late 1930's. My son took his children there for Easter brunch a couple of years ago. It was still quite lovey and food was excellent.

I don't think they are too good to be true on seeds, seems to me that they have abundance of peppers since they have so many pepper products it would to me, make sense to make money off the peppers as well as the seeds. I guess while making the powders either toss the seeds or sell them at a competitive/cheaper rate. Of course there is a possibility their pepper source could have incorrect identification of peppers but from the pics does not look that way. That said, I never heard of them but thank you for the link, I like the site. I hope someone has heard of or purchased seeds would be nice to know. Mark

The picture is better but unfortunately I still don't know. Doesn't look Japanese, Chinese nor Korean, but sure doesn't look like the mark of a western country either. Have you checked Gotheborg.com ?

We rented a vacation home about 16 years ago at Lake Naomi. It was very nice there and we enjoyed it. You need to visit a real estate agent or do a google search for Pocono homes and then plan a visit to see what you like.

I spent a day in Buck Hill Falls. It is a lovely older community with some amazing older homes and also smaller places. A lot of the residents seem to enjoy golf. There is no lake, maybe a swimming pool in the community center, although I’m not sure about that. Seems to be mostly about golf and hiking. It’s very pretty.

We live less than 2 hours from the Poconos. We are used to beautiful scenery, so that does not impress me. We have not stayed at any of the resorts for a long time. Years ago they were very " seedy". We were up in the Split Rock area last year. There was a very nice lake with a beach area. I think that it was right next to Big Bouoder. It seems like it would be nice for a few summer days..

I spent a lot of time in the Poconos years ago. If you stay away from the tourist traps you'll see some beautiful scenery. You have to get away from cities like Stroudsburg and Tannersville (unless you want outlet shopping). Bushkill Falls is very nice, a nice hike, if it's the same. Mountainhome is pretty and had some quaint shops. Camelback has a waterpark and there's supposed to be a huge one in the ares. Personally, I could never see the attraction.
