Warming Drawer Selection - Comparing Temperature Ranges
Comments (4)I may not be much help at all here, because I've never tried to slow cook in my warming drawers. Typically I use it to either warm tortillas, or keep a casserole or plates warm while something else is cooking in the oven. I had a Thermador for 26 years, and it still worked fine, but during our kitchen freshen-up last year, I wanted a paneled front, so I found a Viking that fit. It functions no better, or worse than the Thermador. Interesting, you say the Viking goes to 250* I had no idea it got that hot! It really doesn't seem to be any warmer than my old Thermador, maybe it went to 250* as well? I've never checked with a thermometer... And no moisture problems with the paneled front so far, after almost a year, knock on wood ;)...See MoreSimmer Burners--What's the Big Deal?
Comments (46)This has been a good thread. I agree there there are a number of good reasons to have a good simmer burner, even if it isn't used that often. I used to have a DCS and I did love that all burners could go way down. I now have a Caldera, and it goes low by cycling the burner on and off. I don't like this as much, although it works fine most of the time. (I do like the layout of Caldera better)....See MoreSuggestions on 36' Dual Fuel ranges
Comments (4)I know it's been several months since your post but can you give a follow up on your 48" GE monogram range? I am deciding on kitchen appliances and I can get a great deal from a builder friend on GE, but I"m not confident with the quality after researching. Do you cook and bake regularly? DO you find the temperatures are accurate (not burning stuff)? One post said the temps were off by 100 degrees. Thanks...See More40" gas range replaced with 36" induction range now or later?
Comments (10)We're doing what Sabrina Alfin suggested. 36" induction cooktop over a 30" wall oven, with a 6" cabinet on one side to hold cutting boards. BUT, I wish we had bitten the bullet and gone with a range (we're reusing a cooktop we bought a few years ago). Induction cooktops have annoying touch controls. They take cooktop space and they are fussy to use. We should have abandoned the cooktop and gone for a range with front knob controls for the burners. Agree with wdccruise about 40" ranges. We've been stuck with very old low-function appliances for 10 years, because they were odd outdated sizes and new models wouldn't fit our cabinetry. Stick with standard-sized appliances that will be easy to replace....See MoreM
