Advice on floor stain -- looking for medium brown
Comments (7)I am in a similar boat, but i am moving into a small apartment and cannot have the dark brown floors that I so desire. I will end up with a medium brown shade, as well, but are you also having the same problem I am that so many shades in the brochure/on the cans look different when applied? I assume you have already looked at DRIFTwood? Can you describe how it looked versus Special Walnut and Early American? Thanks. Thanks....See MoreWood Floor Stain Color?
Comments (9)Meaning no disrespect to other posters, I find (for me) that if I use a product that is made for professionals, specifically for one purpose, I get better results. I may sound like I work for Bona Kemi but I don't. I just have used it on the floors I have done and I get good results. If you are going to stain and topcoat a floor without sanding down to bare wood, they make a product for that. To kill red you have to use a stain with some green in it. You will have to order it on line or buy it from a flooring business that sells to floor technicians. If I hired a business to redo my floor and they showed up with MinWax, I would send them away and hire someone else. If you call one of the floor businesses that are on line they will tell you what you need and how to do it. Also, there are some good books you can order that tell you what to do. What ever you decide, let us know and send pictures of how it turned out....See MoreLast minute red oak decision
Comments (4)I definitely wouldn’t get anything gray or dark. I just remodeled and went with a natural red oak floor. It’s very light and goes well with my darker white oak cabinetry as well as the rest of my decor. My previous red oak oak floors were also installed amd just finished with poly or whatever was used. My new floors are factory finished. I havent regretted having light oak floors as they are pretty universal as they seem as they seem to go with everything and are very forgiving in terms of scratches and dust...See MoreRed Oak Hardwood Floor Help
Comments (2)I also have red oak and have scheduled a job for the summer to refinish. My concern is also the pink tinge, which I will be solving with two coats of Bona NordicSeal or Bona NaturalSeal, water based finish like Bona Mega One or Traffic HD should also help. Since you're staining dark the pink should not be much of an issue though....See MoreDiana Bier Interiors, LLC
