What style and color chairs should I get to match my living room?
Comments (23)yes, I saw that. benjes, I didn't mean to suggest that your comment was for just me. I did suggest she move the photos, I just didn't say 'they don't belong'. I'm on the fence with it. If one doesn't have any worthy art, and the family photos are done in a way that look good, coordinate w/one another and properly sized, then I suppose you could do it. But for over the sofa, I still prefer one or two large pieces of actual art. or a mirror. and I'm loving this danish chair w/the teal cushions...See MoreWhat chairs and rug should we get for this living room?
Comments (13)So the style of the house is Art Deco, as seen in the archways, the tray ceiling, and elements of the outside. As a comparison, here is a historic-designated house down the road from us which has very similar elements in the ceiling and archways (though it's specifically the Streamline subset of art deco, which ours is not): https://www.redfin.com/CA/Long-Beach/2642-Chestnut-Ave-90806/home/7571389 The houses are similar enough and physically close enough, built 2 years apart, that I actually wonder if they were built by the same developer. (The built-in cabinet around the fireplace doesn't have that design of course.) We don't want to go overboard with art deco -- obviously, this is not the Chrysler building. Or even a historic-designated house. And obviously art deco is not MCM either. But I do think there are some broadly-speaking "modernism" elements to the room, and I think some of the clean lines of MCM or contemporary furniture could fit into a modern vibe of the room. (For example, decoenthusiast's kidney bean chaise reads very MCM to me but wrong for the room because of the smooth curves, but the more geometric chaise, to me fits very well!) Very loosely speaking, I think the black piano with gold accents fits into the deco idea as well as well....See MoreWhat kind of rug and table should I get for my living room?
Comments (9)Lovely room, and I like that you’re considering a traditional rug. I’m not sure if you’ve looked on the eSaleRugs site, but I found pages of beautiful (real) Persian rugs for under $1000. Most have the option of seeing it in your room, as I did below, so you can play around with sizes, colors, and patterns. These are antiques and semi-antiques, but the rest of the site has new rugs if that doesn’t appeal. https://esalerugs.com/persian-oriental-rugs ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Examples: https://esalerugs.com/red-9x12-tabriz-persian-rug-22420989?pos=12&rt=aisle Love the colors .... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ https://esalerugs.com/red-9x12-shahrbaft-persian-rug-22461083?pos=58&rt=aisle ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ https://esalerugs.com/beige-7x10-meshkabad-persian-rug-22452938?pos=71&rt=aisle ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ https://esalerugs.com/peach-7x10-farahan-persian-rug-22471130?pos=21&rt=aisle...See MoreWhat kind of window treatments should I get for my living room?
Comments (18)Beverly, thank you for the sample renders! I lovveee the look of shutters, but I feel that for my dog I need the option to raise the shades up so he has access to look out the window. Also I think the shutters might limit some of the light coming into the space. Definitely will get a similarly sized rug as in your render, and Im also looking into large mirrors for the fireplace! I also like the light affixed to the wall which saves floor space. As for window treatments, I am now leaning towards the top down bottom up someone else suggested. I noticed there’s a day / night type— anyone recommend that? Is there a certain brand that’s better but doesn’t break the bank? Any brands or type that offer more privacy or without having to get blackout? Should I get them in white? https://www.selectblinds.com/cellularshades/cordless-top-down-bottom-up-cellular-shades.html https://www.homedepot.com/c/ab/top-down-bottom-up-shades/9ba683603be9fa5395fab904b9811f0...See MoreDesigner Drains
