I started my Back-Up 21 “ MTD used to collect leaves with a drill
Comments (3)Follow-up: The MTD is starting 1st pull with the Recoil and pulling from the Motor’s level with my leg’s push off help. “The Old School Position”! I’ll plan to use it in a rotation vs letting it sit a year. It’s the better mower vs my 6.5 HP Murray with the large rear wheel. The real issue is all the reversing in our small 30 minute cut with the heavier MTD. When I started in Industrial Ed in 1964 we had some machines running from leather belts and motors sitting a ways behind the machines. I wanted a 9” South Bend Lathe at home but could not give up the space (in our 2 car garage) the leather's rear motor and belt used. I mounted a motor and short serpentine drive belt to the front and semi overhead (saved a foot or more space). The newer 9” had drive belts below in cabinets. This has been a fun adventure and stressful at times due to the changes in Industrial Education’s Technology. I spent the 60’s -90 with Traditional Woodworking, Metalworking, Plastics, Small Engines and Mechanical Drafting. 1990-2003 I was involved with Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and Computer Applications. My initial Woodworking, Metalworking, Plastics, Small Engines and Auto Mechanics have remained as my hobbies....See MoreI leave in 3 weeks, Start seeds now or wait till I am back? (flowers)
Comments (12)Normally I direct sow, but maybe starting in containers outside could work. I would have to think of a place that gets enough sun, but not so much sun or the hatched seedlings will dry out for sure. I don't leave until 2nd week of Oct and normally things I have direct sowed are popping up within that 1st week, but I am trying some new stuff I never did before and this is fall not spring so maybe fall seedlings take longer. If I get my butt in fast enough gear I could divide the packets into 3rds and do an experiment direct sow, containers and the last 3rd when we get back home. Ohh to be so organized. Damn this working for a living, it so gets in the way! Lol....See MoreB&S OHV with adjusted valves, back fires and never starts
Comments (6)Happy Fathers day today. Ok found key was sheared again. tomplum great call we also found the exhaust valve rocker arm stud was loose and the valve setting pulls up against it so has to be tight. https://www.screencast.com/t/gr1ugCGi0yx Got engine running well. Hand throttled runs up perfectly. But the original problem is still there. Upon trying to load the engine by either engaging blades or letting clutch out engine dies. Dies slowly with progressive blade loading, so thinking micro-switch isn't a common cause. Can a damaged ignition switch cause this? Any other ideas for a cause? We examined carb. bowl and found backfire solenoid working, but the carb. was previously leaking fuel into oil and a fuel valve has been installed for a while. Oil still has a few Vol.% gasoline in it, but level is now OK and engine has no oil level switch....See MoreWhat's started dying back in your yard?
Comments (9)Glenn - in times like these, I usually just leave everything and let it die back in the winter. LOL Most of my 4-o'clocks are dying back. I only have one magenta that is still going strong, so I need to take the others out now, as soon as I gather as many seeds as possible. I got two other different kinds in a trade, including my beloved peppermint stripe, so I'm going to plant those soon....See MoreFunkyart
