Outrageous Tankless Rip-Off!!!!!!!
Comments (27)"All of them should know what size supply the water heater requires and compare that to what is available in the house." The AHJ often has limited knowledge. The code the AHJ enforces does not cover distribution equipment. They do not control the gas company, and generally have almost non jurisdiction over them except after the meter. It was solely the responsibility of the plumber adding the gas equipment to make sure everything would work. That said, no one is going to tell the plumber to run a new gas service line. that would be between you and the gas company. The plumber can remove the equipment he installed, refund your money, and that is about all you are likely to get from him. he did no9t purchase something that cannot work in your house due to factors beyond his control. He may not have known it would not work either. What would you have said if he had simply refused the work telling you the unit could not function with your supply line? The only way it might be his responsibility is if he sold you the equipment....See MoreAre most hand-knotted rugs a rip off?
Comments (30)Well duh ...is be like dis....was the wool carded or comed? Is it merino wool, or lower grades like the crap off of the belly, natural dies or synthetics, and are they water proof and fade proof, what type of knot is used, is the design traditional, or a limited edition original, or a one only, is it real silk or that viscous crap, are the carpets soft , supple, light in weight or fold like thick cardboard...which is more common in Nepali and Indian rugs...but not always. The hand made rug industry is a very old and honoured tradition of protocols and rituals... one in which the buyer and seller often enter into a lifetime relationship....which only the rug itself will survive much longer after both you and the rug merchant be long gone and both your grand children are left to deal with the value of the antique rug. Now if your not in to doing the complete research into the art of hand woven rugs ( stay away from hooked rugs by the way) and aren't into establishing a relationship with the dealer and haggling over while hearing the stories of the weaver and his family who made your carpet or the message woven into the design...me most humbly suggest you log on to ebay and buy whatever turns your crank....See MoreHELP! Am I being ripped off? $10,000 to change depth
Comments (10)You mean 20x40, right? Because 120x40 is freaking huge and I would say it would cost more! Are they adding rebar? Or just more gunite? I don't know how much this all costs (I am new to a pool myself), but I am just curious. 6" doesn't seem like that much (although I know it is a lot of area to cover for the entire pool). One note, our pool is 4' - 8'. Our kids cannot touch the bottom yet (with their head above water), but they have no problem whatsoever. All the adults can, however. We have only had our pool for a year and although I thought 4' was too deep (my wife wanted it so she could do flip turns while swimming), it has been just fine and when we go to pools that are 3 1/2' it feels really shallow (and kids always end up jumping into the shallow end, even if you don't want them to). Either way, you should get what you want. I think 10k is complete BS, but they have where they want you. Did you ask about 3 3/4' just to see what the price would be? I don't think the depths are science, it is more like "art." They put the rebar in place and they shoot the gunite to about what the depth should be. I am pretty sure that there is not many places where our pool is actually of spec depth. Just my thoughts and opinions, no expert, so take everything with a grain of salt....See MoreRipping Up Carpet On Stairs-How to Bachelor-ize?
Comments (24)tinan, thanks for those pictures. And the detailed instructions. They are very helpful. Thanks to all of the other ideas too. I think we will see what is under the rug, and try to stain the treads first, then move on to Plan B if that looks horrid. I also saw a really cool idea using wallpaper on the risers, Birch Trees, to be exact. He has a big mural of birch trees at the bottom of the stairs and I think doing something like that might be really cool. Would not do wallpaper but thinking about a stencil.
