Blinds vs Roman Shades vs Cellular Shades
Comments (12)I have roman shades in the bedroom. They are mostly decorative and a bit of a nuisance to open and close. I do close them at night, but have to fuss with the folds every morning when pulling them up. Light leaks in around the edges. I guess there are various kinds of roman shades. Mine are zero fuss and fit close to the edges and are cordless, top-down bottom-up. Even without the side panels mine are close to the edge in an inside mount. measured to fit. You may be referring to more designer custom fabric-y style roman shades???...See Morecellular blinds
Comments (5)We have a 72" Hunter-Douglas cellular blind on the slider between our DR and the deck. It almost completely covers the woodwork when it's down. I strongly suggest that you go with cordless. I did this to protect my back, but another plus for cordless is that the blind will always open and close smoothly and perfectly. It always hangs just right. If it's a special order and you can wait, it's worth it! As to color, I matched ours to the dining room walls, which are rather rough old plaster and painted Navajo white. The color matches very well and the blind has a slightly rough texture that looks good against the wall. There are two archways and a door and the slider in our DR, and a lot of furniture, books and art, so I wanted the blinds to simply blend into the background....See MoreCellular shades...3/8" or 3/4" cell size?
Comments (4)The consultant is right. The 3/4" look much better, you see more of the fabric and less of the pleats. I used both depending on the application. I like the 3/4" for my main living areas and I have also use both in the same room by using the 3/8" on my french doors. The thinner 3/8" are able to clear the lever handles on my french doors. 99% of people will never notice I used a different size on the doors. I used Hunter Douglas, but I looked at all the options this past year when we bought. I really felt the HD was worth the slightly higher cost and gave me better quality. The HD 3/4 & 3/8 are also less chunky than the other brands, this was important to me for the door lever clearance issue....See Morehanging cellular inside mount blinds
Comments (2)There are two different types of Inside Mounts: Shallow and Flush. A shallow mount means that there is enough space to mount the shade inside the frame, but the front portion of the shade will protrude past the window frame because there is not enough depth to mount it fully recessed. If you were to run your hand along the wall or window frame, it would bump into the shade. A flush mount means that there is enough space to mount the shade all the way inside the frame. The shade is either in line with the frame or even further back, so there is depth from the front of the shade to the front of the frame. If you were to run your hand along the wall or window frame, your hand would not bump into the shade - it would glide over it! The above was taken from HERE....See MoreRAS
