Comments (3)Korean stewartia is just Japanese stewartia from Korea. The original E. Wilson introduction had different flower and fall color characteristics than plants of Japanese origin being grown in western gardens at the time. Since then at least a few other introductions have been made from Korea. The idea of a dramatically distinct Korean species or subspecies is based on limited experience, the distinctions probably would melt away if the full range of wild material were to be surveyed. Comments (3)welcome john .. always provide the plants location ... i might guess jersey.. but you never know where your friends might be ... and its hard to see with the white siding behind ... i was going to suggest saucer magnolia.. but i cant focus on the buds to see if that fits .. so i cant argue with embos suggestion either ... regardless is a magnolia ... ken ps: your friend could be bit more creative with the pruning ...... but thats a different show .......See MorePlant ID help (fall blooming large shrub, stalks of white flowers)
