remove dead nestling?

(1) The 4 bluebird eggs hatched June 1 and 2 - maybe beginning in May. I think one might be dead and under the other 3. Do the parents manage to get dead babies out, or could they use my help?
I've not yet seen more than 3 moving, and those three are always (when I look) on top of the 4th.
(I generally leave them untouched, only opening the box once in a while during the first 12 days after hatching, and long enough to snap a picture and peek for ants, mites, etc.)
(2) Is it "ok" to put a shade cloth up over the house, leaving some distance between the house and the cloth? My husband is wondering if that would help with the heat. (Gets well over 90F here already.) There is a narrow ventilation slot near the top of the sides of the house.
