Comments (7)Thanks! I actually took a short trip to Ferncliff Gardens today (http://www.ferncliffgardens.com), to view their huge peony display gardens. I saw their intersectionals growing in full sun, including Garden Treasure, which I agree is a beauty to behold in person and is selling for $200. I also talked to the owners, who confirmed that they do great in full sun. I was also considering getting a "coral" (Coral Charm in particular), but the gardeners on this forum were absolutely correct when they said the corals fade too quickly. They were not as impressive as I expected. Even the regular pinks looked better. And I saw the most gorgeous reds in my entire life, in "Red Charm" and "Orlando Roberts". Pictures on the Internet do not do these red peonies justice. "Henry Bockstoce" came in a close second for color, but the blooms are so huge that the stalks do flop on the ground. "Red Charm" was slightly smaller with a beautifully shaped center, and had stronger stalks - no flopping. "Orlando Roberts" was the deepest most striking red, like a black red you could see from a great distance away, but it had the smallest flowers of the three. Top 3 peonies I've decided on so far -- Red Charm, Bess Bockstoce, and Garden Treasure. Deborah Here is a link that might be useful: Orlando Roberts peony...See MoreCostco Itoh Peonies $29.99
Comments (9)Wow that is a great purchased for a healthy plant with flowers already. I will check our Costco here in Toronto if they have it. I just went today and unfortunately all they have are annual and biennial plants. This post was edited by peony05 on Wed, May 29, 13 at 14:34...See MoreGot 3 Itoh Peonies at Home Depot today! Comments (13)I hesitated before putting out the Singing in the Rain name just because mine is more of an orangey pink (from what I remember, didn't even get to see it last year!) than that. The difference could easily be the soil and environmental, though. Here's a couple of pics of mine from several years ago. The first shows several blooms and the fade to yellow, see how orangey the more pink ones are? Ignore the very bottom left flower, that's a droopy flower next to it! And PLEASE ignore the foliage! That was a heavy hail storm year, seems we've had far too many of those lately... The second picture was taken in full sun so is probably a bit washed out but otherwise shows the color tone of a newly opened flower in my garden....See MoreKarenPA_6b
