wip, new backsplash, and grout suggestions please
Comments (21)I just peeked to see what this forum was about, and OMG I am going to be hooked! I LOVE LOVE LOVE your color band and tree of life and even the brick background!! I also would like to throw out an idea if it's not too late and you still haven't grouted -- usually I can visualize what would look right for grout, but not this time! So I am wondering, if you take a photo of it and then photocopy it in color and make 2 (or more) copies, then you could use crayons to approximate the grout color and see how each looks. I can see both the charcoal and the light color working but with very different effects, and if it were me I would do that and get out my Crayolas! Like your very own coloring book... Good luck and I will be checking back to see how this looks when you finish. It's so unique and fun and very cool and I am inspired! (we're building a new house and I am determined to have some crafty fun with it!) Thanks for sharing your work!...See MoreBacksplash? No backsplash? What kind of backsplash?
Comments (25)didn't have time to read all the answers. I have no backsplash and have never regretted it...been over 6 yrs. It is painted with BM matte...which has ceramic in it. It is as beautiful now as it was when first painted. I love the fact that I can showcase other things ...art etc in my kitchen and no competition. Also if I ever want to change it is as quick as a paint brush...expense is minimal..paint only ! All in all I think it is serene as you point out . Here is one pick. Since I have a lot of high heat cooking in my kitchen..built in deep fat fryer as well as gas cook top I can definitely speak to the longevity of paint only. c ( more at this album )...See MoreHelp! Will this back-splash work?
Comments (18)If your choice were only between to 2 you originally posted, I'd choose the one on the right--the cream one. From the photos it looks like it works very well with your quartzite. The gray one is "off" just enough not to look pleasing. However, as many have noted, either one is more difficult to clean than a smooth surface. What sort of cook are you--very neat or more devil-may-care? If you are very neat and do not splash much when you cook, then you may get away with the split-faced marble, but if you are a more exuberant cook, you may find it a challenge to clean. The mother of pearl is very formal and quite busy, so it's going to compete with the counter tops as well. Personally, I would use a smooth crackle tile in a tan/beige tone to work with your quartzite. Simple is always good....See MoreKitchen backsplash suggestions, please!
