Full bush shot- Evelyn
Comments (16)You know I planted an Evelyn last year, she's from DA so she's grafted and I think that the own root do much better in my yard. She's still only a foot and a half tall and most of my other DA own roots were at least 2 ft year 1 and 4 ft after their 2nd year. This is year 3 and I've had to hack off like 4 ft after their first flush, monsters that they are. I wish that Evelyn was the same but it doesn't seem to be the case. She did give me 1 bloom this year but that was it. I'm not giving up on her yet, we have great Austin rose weather here so I think she's just going to be a bit slower than the rest....See MoreClose up and full bush shots of Dutchess de Brabant & Spice
Comments (5)Sorry to hear that Ingrid, I have mine in a spot that gets some shade so maybe that helps plus I don't have the dry heat as you do. Duchess de Brabant isn't actually clmbing though I can see why you would think that. She is taller then the 6' fence she is up against. Is puts on some serious growth every year and I had to actually cut out a big branch in her middle that had some damage so that's maybe why it looks like it does. She grew super fast for me and I have thought about getting another one because of her excellent rebloom....See MoreFull bush shots requested
Comments (6)Hey Sara Ann, I have a baby Valencia that was new to me last year, so no bush shot that would be helpful yet. I got Big Purple as a bare root earlier this month...it hasn't even leafed out yet, so again no help there. Dolly Parton is the only one on your list I've grown for long...I've had a Dolly in my garden for many years, and it's a sentimental favorite of mine with huge blooms, wonderful fragrance & long vase life. Not my most prolific bloomer, but not bad. I don't seem to have any bush shots from last year, but here are a few from 2014. Her bush form looks much better in these photos than I would have described...I've always considered her a rather stiff, lanky, unattractive bush with glorious flowers to make up for it. So either I've been overly critical of her or the pictures are somewhat deceptive... May (only top half showing...she doesn't bloom much on bottom of bush) August (full bush shot showing that she mostly blooms on top) September (pic is dark and only top part of the bush again)...See MoreBush shot of Poseidon
Comments (12)Thank you so much everyone! Totoro, my Poseidon is about 4 ft. tall x 3 ft. wide. Most of my roses seem to reach their full size by the third season, which this is. This picture might show the color a little better. I would definitely recommend this rose! It took some patience, but is well worth the wait!...See MoreSara-Ann Z6B OK
