Rainy Day blooms

I am not sure I have had a day without some kind of rain for the past 14 days. The daylilies (and weeds and grass) are loving it. It is hard to find good blooms on many without the rain splotches or partial openings. Here are a few from today and yesterday.

Best flower yet on Happy Happy and still have some splotching damage from either rain or slug. I have pulled slugs off many blooms.

Stop the Show (with raindrops!)

Pistachio Eyes-blooming low in foliage. May be where it is. Under a growing tree and too much shade. I will probably move it this year to see if it increases in height.

Otis Dobson-this has been a prolific bloomer this year. Low scapes.

October Fest.

Hernando Star-strutting today in the rain.

Glimpse of part of the garden. It curves all the way to the back. And yes, those are bags of potting garden soil for a new bed!! (No comment!!) See how many are still yet to bloom.

Colby Coventry. Another one in a bad "find a spot and stick it" place. Shrub behind it is pushing it-it is having to lean forward to get sun. It, too, is on the move list. But was pretty today.

Lord of the Storm. Appropriate name for today's weather. Caught this one yesterday before the rains. It did not look like lord of anything today in the rain! :)

Down Home. Blooming low. But funny about this one. Three clumps down in the same row is a second clump of Down Home that is blooming tall. They were set out at the same time so both are same age. Both bloomed tall last year.

And some others.

Spice Bomb. Blooming low. Some of these just are not getting enough sun, I think. Hence the new bed I mentioned. They are all going to full sun.

Part of the garden in misty rain-going in the other direction. My path is almost overtaken by the clumps! This was today. You can see-many yet to bloom.

Jurassic Park. Not as tall as I hoped it would be for such massive blooms.

Silent Musings. I think one of the forgotten Stamile daylilies. When not rain splotched, it is one of the clearest, purest pinks I have. It has Song Writer as a parent and I also like SW very much.

Born in California. FFO. Definitely not the best bloom but shows signs of promise, I think.

Emerald Bay. New this year. FFO did not open all the way as you can see. But, once again, I see promise with this one.

This is a noid I wish I knew the name. It is a bloom machine. Blooms are not splotchy!! Has great substance. So pretty.

And this is my beautiful yellow noid that I am showing not the FFO but a pic of all the blooms to come. No problem with height here! Love this plant.

And ending with beautiful Thomas Tew. Rain does not bother it. I don't think I have had a bad bloom all season.

So many more, can't keep up. And I really don't complain about the rain or splotches. We were in a drought two years ago and all plants and gardens suffered. I count it all blessings to see the rain we have received the past two seasons. Blotches I can take. Besides, when you stand far enough away, you can't see them!!! They all look great.

At least you got a few photos Jean....I can't even get any yet, so I know they'll all be "drowned rats" when and if the rain stops here! Persian Market's looking real good with a fresh bath isn't she. Mine's blooming now too. I don't know who your little NOID is, but she's a bright spot on a rainy day! Jan

Thank you all for looking and commenting.When I walked around the garden (between heavy rains) I originally thought "well, another week or so and blooming will be over....except for PInk Ginham and its eight rebloom scapes. Then I started finding more rebloom scapes on other plants. A dozen more plants, some with three scapes The re-bloom scapes are generally taller as Brad said later scapes were in his garden. So I guess with the rebloom scapes I've already seen, there will be bloom well into July. A long season this year. Julia, it is frustrating to not get the right color on a bloom. Mantis, I am having more rebloom scapes than usual...the multi blooms mean they won't bloom as long, but they look so good in clumps. kay

Oh, Mantis, I hope not. I am encouraged that Kay mentioned how tall most of her scapes are. I can reason why some of mine are like they are-not enough sun, crowded between massive clumps of others, bad placement in the garden, etc. This year I hope to do some rearranging and see if that helps some. Granted, in the case of others, such as the Down Home scenario, I have no reason or justification for that. We shall see.

Too many beautiul daylilies, I don't have much blooming yet, so every one looks wonderful to me. That noid yellow is going to be stunning when it blooms. Seems like we have had rain almost daily. We did have 3 days in a row with no rain last week, but it started back up

All of you with too much rain please send some my way!! The month of May we have had a total of less than an inch all together. We have had very dry summers the past 3 years and this one looks like it's starting dry again. No sign of scapes here for awhile but I'm encouraged by your photos. Isn't it so like the NOIDS to be the best in the garden sometimes? I have some that put my known daylilies to shame. Your garden looks so colorful and I am jealous of your raindrops....lol.

Your garden is beautiful with all the blooms and that winding pathway! Happy Happy looks happy with all that rain. I think my favorites are Thomas Tew and Lord of the Storm.

Thanks Debra. I don't know how much longer that winding pathway will be there if those clumps keep spreading! Time to divide, I think. Nancy, I know yours will be starting to pop soon. Mantis, I have Omomuki and while these are very similar, there are some differences. Same with Imperial Lemon which I thought might be this one but I also have IL, so it is easy to compare. I bought this noid from a daylily garden in Nashville over 20 years ago and somewhere in my gardening notes, I know I must have kept the names of those I bought. Just haven't found it yet.

Celeste, I am so sorry you may be looking at another dry summer. At least you got PLENTY of snow to help with your ground water depth perhaps. Hopefully, rain will make it to you before your buds begin! Yours are always lovely, no matter the weather.

Those are some beautiful buds and clumps, Kate. I have noticed, even with the overwhelming rain we have had this week, that the plants I moved last year seem to be so very happy in the new homes. The blooms are larger and they are standing tall...but the ones in front are standing tall anyway...Half Moon Key is at least a foot taller than ever before. Now some of them are as usual Kate, I really like Thomas Tew, Your red noid is a beauty too...like the bit of blue cast it has, Born in California is my pick I think, but Jurassic Park is so striking...it will probably be taller next year. Pistachio Eyes and Otis Dobson are both lovely. altogether a very nice post.

Kate, I just love Colby Coventry and Thomas Tew. They are a color style I don't have and have wanted for years. Someday!

Thanks all. And thank you jkayd for your attempt at an id on my noid. I did check out Annie Armstrong as I had not heard of that one. While similar, it is a later lily. Mine is at least 20 if not more years old. Not as ruffled as Annie, but size of bloom is similar. So many yellows out there. So hard to ID yellows. I just love this lily. Hardy, healthy, multiplies like crazy, and throws beautiful blooms. What is not to love? And Kay, at least my big clumps are hiding some of my grass and weeds. Not as clean as yours, I think. Brad, Thomas Tew has multiplied well. Check with me next year. It may be quite large enough to share.

Lovely blooms! Thomas Tew is always an eyecatcher. I also like Colby Coventry and Happy Happy. Great garden shots, looks like lots of room for a new bed!
