I have a blank wall in need of decorating (pics)
Comments (13)You have a lovely home. I agree with threegrad about the landscape print opposite the mirror in the dining room - that's a great idea. I would remove the little cabinet below the mirror. I move the mirror a little higher on that mantle wall so the shelf stands alone. I would also remove the little shelf in the alcove to the right of the mantle and place an oblong print on that wall. The two floor lamps seems to be competing with one another on either side of the half wall - is it possible for one of them to be moved to an alternate location? A little pop of color as an accent in your dining room and living room wouldn't hurt. Not sure what colors you prefer, but I see you have a plant on the top shelf in the living room in a kind of lime or chartreuse green, perhaps a bit of that color in a print or plaid pillow for the couch and a table runner for the dining room? Here's a couple of examples. Again you have a lovely home and great style, I would just add a bit of color to enhance what you have already done....See MoreHelp on blank wall in dining room
Comments (9)I agree with a triptych or things that are related somehow. Having 3 different things on those different walls will look odd and crowded, in my opinion. There are some great ideas HERE. I especially like the map... It's unfortunate that the center section is the narrowest because it makes it awkward to figure out what to do. If it were my room, I think I'd be tempted to put a taller piece of furniture on that section, like a breakfront or similar and then put two coordinating pieces of art on the side wall sections. Or if you have room, do 2 sections of built ins and put art on the third wall. eta: This is kind of interesting...sort of like treating it all as one wall as lascatx suggests in the next post - the art plus some larger sconces to fill the space:...See MoreHelp with dining room and library room!
Comments (6)Start by centering the table under the fan (chandelier) and taking exact measurements of both rooms and all openings. Draw a scale floor plan on grid paper, writing the measurements clearly so we can see them. Do you have any other furniture pieces you plan to use here? If so, bring them in and place them somewhere, removing any pieces you do not want to use. Take new pix, upload a shot of the proposed chandelier, and we'll get started....See MoreNeed help with large, blank wall in dining room
Comments (7)I would do a wallpaper with a soft, vintage pattern. You have an eclectic mix of styles in these rooms and I think something calm and classic would look really interesting ... as well as highlight the wonderful natural light in there and not compete with your more bold elements. Just an example of the style I mean: (Source: https://www.studiodb.com/residential/park-avenue-residence) And I love a big round mirror over it. It would be amazing at reflecting the natural light and your chandelier. (Source: House Beautiful) https://www.finestwallpaper.com/store/p6571/C.F.A_Voysey_-_The_Merle_Wallpaper.html Normally, I’m all for going extra bold with accent walls, but your house has a very peaceful, serene feel, and I don’t think it needs a jarring wallpaper print or color. ETA: Grasscloth is another idea — it comes in a variety of colors....See MoreUser
