Finally A Good Rain and the Daylilies Loved It

There are too many blooms and too many FFOs to show them all individually, so I will post some garden shots as well. This is from the house toward the garden. The pink swag in the middle is Pink Gingham, and the far right all blooms are Clown Parade. Right Foreground is Marilyn Lee Boch, and Jaoan Senior to left. Emerald Starburst (2 blooms) can be seen standing very tall all the way across the garden.

This view is from the right toward the house with both sides of front included. You can see the nice clump of Citrix toward the front and the Clown Parade near the back. And every day, Pink Gingham out does itself:

This is the far right section. You may note Wall of Fire is not blooming yet, but FFE of Sweet Isabella and Rose F Kennedy put up her first two blooms today.

Now to the Iris Rows.

The beginning of the iris row:

The beginning is s clump f Til the End of Time and Integrated Logistics on the right and down the left, you have FFE Crown of Enchantment then Fear Not. To the right is FFO Shake the Mountain.

FFO: Shake The Mountain:

Looking at the first photo of the iris row,s you can see as you go down the iris rows just past Shake the mountain, on the other side of the path, there is a grouping that gets a lot of attention: Rocks Cry Out, Purple Mask, Possession of Obsession, Spacecoast Brazen Bandit, and Pirate King, Tempt Me and Butterfly Cove are just past them.

The last part of the Iris Rows have several nice ones blooming, FFE Johnny Cash, Bass Gibson, Reason for Treason, Wild Cherry Wine and Spacecoast Devil's Eye.

FFO: Johnny Cash: Johnny Cash has never bloomed this well before for me,

Flowers are lovely. You say a whole month without rain, the last good rain here was 2 inches and that was last June. so far this year we have 1 inch.

Kay, Lovely gardens! Thanks for posting them. I noticed your road to the right of one of the beds. Do people slow down and look as they drive by? Pink Gingham is quite nice!

Thanks everyone, and we got another rain this afternoon, not as much as the other day, but I will take it. Jean, everything dried up here to, even with watering. I am seeing new growth on lots of stuff since the rains. Rita, I had 2 of them bloom this spring, the heat has really taken a toll on them I hope they survive the summer here. I may have to move them to a shadier location next year. As far the fissures in the ground, they are still there, some of the smaller ones are closing but the bigger ones have not yet. I watched the temperature drop from 101 to 85 in less then 20 minutes as the front that Jean got after us began to push through. I could count the number of raindrops it produced though. The wind was horrible. Sucked what little moisture there was in the soil right up. We even lost power off and on for an hour. But I won't complain as it was nothing compared to the 4 people northwest of us who lost their lives when those 84 mph straight winds slammed into them. In Oklahoma no good weather goes unpunished....I'm glad that you got rain though Jean. We all need it so badly....Maryl

Thank you. Kate, you and Debra both know fighting Fire is a favorite. Debra, I am really liking Yumph!..Those colors should show more gradations as it gets warmer...the rain and cool mornings are interfering with me taking photos when I prefer to take them...That will be over right away though as nineties will be here in less than a week. I guess you can't have it all. kay

Nice to see the neat and weedless beds. Johnny Cash was always difficult here. Shake the Mountain better suited for the South, as even Gossard told one person. It certainly has nice scapes for you. Do you have several plants of Possession of Obsession, as that bloom seems to come from different plants? Oh, I see now, it's a very tall plant that is coming from a clump towards the front.

Thank you all for looking and commenting.. Weedless beds are the goal, but it is one that I keep aiming for,,,haven't actually made it I am always "freshening my beds as I walk in them but thank you for the encouragement. I will need to mulch again when the season is over and weed along throughout the winter to have any chance at all. Mantis this is the first time I have had good bloom on Johnny Cash, Shake the Mountain has always done very well here. It is one I got from CT daylilies. It is planted close to Barney and they look good when they bloom together. POOis a single plant and very tall this year.Brad,and Nancy, I do occasionally have people go slowly to look at the flowers...and sometimes people will tell me they have worried because they hadn't seen me lately. Sherry it had been over a month without rain. Debra, i is becoming colorful and I like garden shots ao decided to take a few today. thank you all for looking and commenting.

Beautiful! You know how I feel about Clown Parade, does that plant ever have a bad bloom? pink Gingham seems to be such a hard working plant for you, may have to try that one. So pretty too.

Love the garden shots! Hard to choose a favorite from this group. Pink Gingham looks lovely. I also like Sweet Isabella, Clown Parade, and RFK.

Wow! I cannot imagine having to water all the time. We normally have decent rains ut periods of drought are not uncommon. Lori, that is why I posted the way; I did I couldn't choose one or two, and today may be worse. I am already beginning to ss that peak can't be far away. Mantis will laugh at me, bu nonetheless.

How beautiful it all is. Glad you got rain, that makes such a difference. Lots of favorites for me here, but will mention Clown Parade (love bitones) RFK, Sweet Isabela, Wild Cherry Wine, Philistine Champion, Purple Maze, and Possession Of Obsession.

Your gardens are wonderful. I covet Pink Gingham, it is such a clear pink. I have been looking for it since I started my collection. Love Clown Parade and Shake the Mountain too

You are unlikely to find it anywhere else, Marietta no longer has it and many other wonderful plants. I am in Alabama, so even though I have had no rust this year, that does not ensure that anything would be rust free since I live in the rust belt...It is still too hot, but I would share some with you when it is a little cooler.
