kroer2016 I'm thinking that the furniture and accessories is available for purchase by the homeowners, but it really is just for staging. I agree about the budget. It always ends up that they misquote because they conveniently find something major wrong. I would never agree to such a purchase without a home inspection and knowing ALL the details possible up front. ******************************************************** Yes, the finished hse is staged for the show and HO's can purchase the items if they chose. If Jo commissions something from a vendor like Clint, that is a gift from FU Curious, other than a piece of furniture, does anybody know what the HO's appearing on the show get financially? On HH Reno, they get $25,000 towards the reno. I'll bet dollars to donuts the home has been inspected and any issues that come up are reality show drama. As an aside - do you notice how often they say 'You know'?

I would never want to get dishes out of a lower drawer - I hate lower cabinets, even if they have drawers, and I would never give up upper cabinets, even though they are dangerous during earthquakes (unless they have childproof locks). I do not mind getting on a stool/stair to reach the very top of my upper cabinets, but I seriously do mind getting near the floor to get something from the bottom drawers. I only put things in lower cabinets that I do not use very much, and I would never consider buying a house without upper kitchen cabinets. I care more about storage than I do about sight lines in the kitchen. I'm very focused when I am cooking, and I do not need distractions from other rooms. I also like to keep smells and odors contained within the kitchen and not have them travel to other rooms, especially when I cook on the grill and set off the smoke alarms. If I had doors to my kitchen, I would close them. I had pocket doors to my kitchen in Venice, and that was perfect because I could close it off when I wanted to. I hate kitchens that invade living rooms - I like separation.

My reading is either library books, which are in nightstand drawers or baskets in the living room, or I read on a Kindle or iPad. My husband doesn't read at home because he reads so much for work and he also works 60+ hours a week. Sadly, he just doesn't get pleasure out of reading at home these days. I hope no one would come into our home and assume something negative about us because they don't see loads of books. Sorry if that's too negative." The TV thing came up during an interview (in BHG or Country Living Magazine or similar), when they were asked if their family watched their own show. They said they don't watch their own show at home because they don't have a TV. They didn't go into their reasons for not having one. I don't think not having a TV makes them morally superior, even if they do have a TV show. Because they have a show, they must now start watching TV?? That seems sort of silly, doesn't it? I don't know them, and I don't currently watch their show, although I saw the first season. I think it's surprising and a little sad that this group continues to bash them week after week. Hasn't it pretty much all been said?
