I think the walkway will do a lot to help it look more like an entrance to the home, which is good. And new concrete always looks nice and updated.

Everyone has a different style and idea of what "spruced up" means, but if it were me I'd get rid of that gate / fence. If you have to have a railing there you could go with something more modern, like this:

Preferably lose the curtains in that main window, or if need be change them for something more minimal.

Add some larger plants as part of the landscaping. Kind of hard to tell from the pic but it looks like a bunch of little shrubs. I would vary the size and type and color of plants in the gardens more. Maybe add a pencil evergreen or two near the face of the house? Something along these lines?

The red brick looks nice but with the relatively flat face of the ranch style and smallish windows, some larger plants will help give it some visual interest.

Or another type of small tree? Maybe one that flowers? In any case I think more sizable and varied plants would help. Could also put another small tree in the yard somewhere. A cherry or crab apple would be nice. Right now the lawn looks nice and well kept but a bit of a sea of grass.

Other suggestions could include painting the door a different color if you're looking to switch things up. Maybe something not so dark. A brighter color. Or even just white. Or maybe try just painting the frame around your existing door white.

Paint the window exterior trim white, too, or freshen it up with new paint, and perhaps add some wood shutters? Right now the windows are kind of sunken into the face of the house and don't really stand out.

Can't see from the pics but if your outdoor light fixtures are dated, that's another easy grab for updating.

And lastly, some landscape lighting could be cool at night. Some "up" lights on the face of the house and on the tree in your yard. Some path lights once you get the walk in. If you add some bigger trees or shrubs in places you'll have more opportunity for some creative lighting and accents.

The most common mistakes that are made with the front walk is that it is too narrow and placed too close to the house, killing landscape opportunities. Too narrow a walk makes the whole property look cheaper than it otherwise could. It feels cheap, too, if everyone must approach the entrance in single file. I would call 4' the absolute minimum width. 5' is better and there is no upward limit, though it must make sense, and be tastefully placed.

6' is the minimum distance from the house I would place the walk, though it often can be farther, depending on what your landscaping is doing. It is best if you plan all these things out before you do any actual work in order to make sure no easy opportunities are neglected.
