What type of ottoman or table do you see in this room? I think I need large scale art on the far wall.

Things look great so far! My needs would be: curtains, more lamps, a lot of art, and end tables.

^Agree 100% with grapefruit. Also change out the table lamp to something much larger. That particular lamp is too skinny and small for the room and the end table. Add more lighting too :)

Looks like you will be busy with your new stuff! I like your swing too! Are you going to put different pic in each "pane" or 1 thing flowing from pane to pane? country scene-walking down road or stream & background etc. Guess would be lot harder doing 1 scene. Someone on mosaics did a river on her stair risers & it was beautiful! Keep us posted on your progress! Jan

I've had eastern painted turtles in my pond for years. They never bothered my goldfish or frogs. They will take a bite out of a lily once in a while, but they certainly don't destroy my pond plants. I've seen koi do much more damage. Koi require a special pond while painted turtles can exist in a water garden. Turtles like to travel and will leave your pond if you don't secure them. I use plastic fencing supported by rocks. They need basking areas, so you should have some rocks or land for them. If you feed them turtle pellets, they won't feed off of plants as much. My turtles also love watermelon. Painted turtles are native to my area, but they would not survive a cold winter in my pond. They dig into the mud at the bottom of natural lakes and ponds in November and hibernate until April. They can't do that in a pond with a rubber liner. I keep two turtles in a large indoor aquarium during the winter. If you can't do the same, I would forget about turtles.

I guess most all the people who have sold their houses have moved on from this forum. Usually the real estate agents have some real doozies to tell. My only story is that we lost power in our house for 24 hours two days before the house went up on the MLS. So just as we were frantically trying to finish up make the house picture perfect, we lost electricity, A/C (it was August) and WATER (we were on a well). We kept thinking that any moment the electricity would come back on - the power company was completely unhelpful with information. We slept in the basement that night on cushions from the outdoor furniture. An agent who had become aware of the listing called us directly to get a jump on seeing the house (height of the market). Talk about bad timing . . . I still feel bad about how I spoke to him.

Hi Terri, I have ordered from both Palatine and Hortico many times. While they recommend that you use 3 day shipping if you live in TX or CA, they don't insist on it. The cost for shipping 3 to 9 roses is $32.95. Whenever I order roses from Canada, I wait until I can find 9 that I want before I order, in order to keep the shipping cost per rose as low as possible. I realize that not everyone can do that, but if you can, then the cost is $32.95/9 = $3.66 per rose, which is not bad. Palatine packs their roses really well in a thick black plastic bag with moistened packing material around the roots. I have them shipped in November when it is cool. It takes around 6-8 days to get here and they always arrive in excellent shape. They do have an excellent selection and the quality of the roses is quite good. Their roses are only in the field for a single summer: they are budded/grafted in September, planted in the field and harvested the following November in the following year. Roses produced in CA and other rose-growing areas of the US usually spend 2 summers in the field before harvest. The Canadian roses typically have larger root systems (Rosa multiflora rootstock) than US grown roses (Dr. Huey rootstock), with some roots exceeding 18 inches in length. The caliper of the canes of the Canadian roses is thinner, but the caliper of the new canes on the Canadian roses catches up quickly. Since the rootstock of the Canadian roses is grown from seed, you have a much lower chance of getting a virused rose. Overall, the Canadian roses do as the grafted and own-root roses produced in the USA, in my garden. It sometimes seems a few of my Canadian roses are even more vigorous than the other roses: I had a grafted 'Radio Times' rose from Canada, a David Austin shrub, that threw a 15 foot cane!

what grapefruit and Denita said. art, curtains, another side table(maybe round, to break the lines a bit?), more lamps..bigger lamp or lampshade on the existing one/ A cozy room that'll become even cooler. As for the table/ottoman-I envision something with pattern..)) maybe same shape, or oval..it can be a storage type of ottoman as well..but I'd take this opportunity to bring in a different color/pattern in upholstery

wood would look good too (or mix of wood w/metal, wood w/white) but your sweet boy seems so cozy with an ottoman..and I totally understand him-we have an ottoman ourselves in family room/library..very cozy and versatile indeed. And another sitting spot if needed.

Check EBTH for large scale art..unique and can be won for a very low price(it's a huge auction site)..narrow down to your location though-their shipping gets very pricey with really large scale art.

other sources are of course eBay, Etsy, Chairish..

if you love prints there are plenty of these too. I like what I saw recently on OneKingsLane, Anthropologie that has 20% off home and decor right now(still pricey a bit if you ask me..)..Saatchi Art is an amazing site..can get very expensive but prints and gyclee canvases would be much, much cheaper, as much as I prefer originals I do have couple prints too, and currently thinking of purchasing a print from Saatchi-first, the original is long sold, second, I wouldn't have such money anyway..:)

Check estate sales too..some are incredibly cool. Craigslist. One can get very intersteting and sometimes very expensive and great quality lights for an unbelievably low price.
