Hi All AV lovers! I'm new here...
Comments (8)Hi Becky, Like Nancy I wick water most of my plants. At one point in time I had all my plants on capillary matting which I purchased from Cape Cod Violetry. The matting works well, however, if you have one diseased plant in the tray with the rest, eventually they all will have the same problem. I just want to warn you to be very careful and to make sure your plants are disease free. I lost two collections using matting before I switched to wicking. Comments (12)I wouldn't call this list a top ten by any means. I have been to Chanticleer, Filoli, and the Atlanta Botanical Garden on the list. The first two are definitely must-see gardens. A true botanical garden is focused on botany which means it is educational but not necessarily beautiful. Botanical gardens are interesting to visit and often have beautiful sections but I don't usually find them beautiful overall. A beautiful garden is usually the result of passion and knowledge, horticultural skill and artistic gifts. Organizations or committees don't usually produce beautiful gardens--I'm being very opinionated here, I admit. Almost always, a single creative force creates a beautiful garden--one person, whether they have help or not, sometimes an owner with a designer and/or a head gardener. But a beautiful garden can be tiny and tended by one person. The glory of the art of gardening is that it is open to anyone with the love of it. I made a top-ten list once, from seeing hundreds of gardens in the US and Europe. Then I tossed it. Too many worthy candidates....See MoreNeed Home A/C repair, but I'm perplexed after 2 contractor visits
Comments (11)Thanks for the follow ups, really good information. I'll try to address each comment and ask some more questions. fluffybunnysui: The 1st contractor called me last night to ask about what I was thinking about doing to fix it. I told them I had a 2nd contractor come out and test it and told me the expansion valve. 1st contractor said that they determined it WAS NOT the expansion valve because they blocked off one side of the flow at/on the compressor, and the bypass valves opened and it couldn't suck the pressure all the way down.(I don't really understand how it works, I have replaced Automobile A/C but just followed basic instructions.) 2nd part: Both contractors said that they *think* the evap coil is icing up. Because we could turn the unit off for hours, let it melt, and then it would blow really cold again for a short time. Unfortunely for me, I had to leave the house today and go to work in a different city for the week. I can't spray the unit off, and my wife doesn't feel confident doing it, but the 1st contractor is due out to the house later today. thanks. Jack Mason: thanks, the 2nd contractor did show me their pricing on new units. Said $2,899 for a new evap coil and all related work. $4,600 for a 12 SEER outside unit. (my system is a 14 SEER I believe). Reading the link you provided now. thanks. Heatseeker: I don't know what refrigerant is used in my system. A quick web search points to R-410A. The unit is a Carrier unit, Model: 24ABA430A300 Serial # 4506E08945...See MoreNeighbors... don't even know where I'm posting this. Sorry. I'm new.
Comments (23)Sounds like a few possibilities- if daughter/grandkids moved in recently there must be no father on a continual basis. The boy may not understand that your house is no longer 'his' home. He may have witnessed/lived with a defiant/violent/drunk male in the past where this type of behavior is all he saw. Monkey See- Monkey Do. He may be ADHD. ADD. Fetal Alcohol Sydrome Disorder child. - 91-94% of ADHD/AUTISM is later diagnosed at early school age or adolescent age as FASD. ... It IS his mother who needs to set boundaries. Grandma already raised her kids- it is not her responsibility. Is the mother an alcoholic? Drugs? Physically or mentally abused and does not have the capacity herself to guide her children. You may not know these answers yet but dig. Ask grandma over or out for a hamburger. Discuss your worries with her and she may shed some light on the situation. Or not... It is not the child's fault, as much as it puts stress on you. Be proactive- lock your garage door. Lock your home doors. Ask a legal person if YOU may put a lock on the gate. Look at your County Clerk office tax assessment/file to see who legally put up the fence- you may be surprised to find out it is really your fence. Talk to your insurance company- they will have suggestions about how you can cover yourself. Most of these things are private and the neighbor's will not know of you trying to figure out the situation. Sometimes it DOES take a village to raise a child- especially a mentally affected child. I am blessed- I too have a connecting yard because two sisters and their husbands lived side by side. Then they were widows. I was able to know/visit the sister that previously owned my house for a year, before her death a few months ago at 100 years old... Her sister is my neighbor at 90, who is a wonderful woman. Don't dispair- there is a reason you are there. Figure out why as exhausting as it is right now. Chin up!...See Morefloral_uk z.8/9 SW UK
