UGH. Everybody needs counseling for everything these days. This kids obviously seen/heard a little TOO much from Mom or whoever. She can't be left unsupervised with boys OR girls so the gender difference is irrelevant. The age difference is equally irrelevant....the boy wasn't 18. He is just as much still a kid as her. I think talking to her about the consequences of sexual behavior and keeping a real close eye on her is good for now. She isn't the first 12 year old to be kissing on people I promise. I hate to burst all your bubbles. I did it. All kids do, some or just better at not getting busted. There's no need to embarrass the child by forcing her to talk to a total stranger about her hormones and sexual urges. I think therapy can sometimes do more harm than good. It's like saying "There's something wrong with you...you need to see psychologist." Talk about labeling. I would want to be absolutely sure that she has a problem and not just normal curiosities before slamming her into therapy. Her urges are normal but she has GOT to learn to control it and she doesn't need a therapist for that. She needs EXTRA attention also. Make it a point to spend more one on one time with her. Encourage the DH to do the same. Get her to talk to you guys about whats going on.

If the answer is "yes" ! Your next question is by WHEN? In this year, next year, 2028? When exactly? Bet me she can not answer, because it is yet one MORE decision! "She's already going with designer/architect # 3 at this point" ............ ( I will refrain.........: ( I Just tied up my hands on that one.) There can be a million reasons people struggle with decision . The first is life/death/permanence . Once done, I am STUCK with it. Yeah, unless you do it over!! More often? It's a judgement issue. To all and everyone: " I'm working on my new kitchen!.." "Oh wow! That's great , lucky you.. You must be excited!" "I am, but I haven't got all the pieces and parts together yet" "We'll be DYING to see it when you finish!" They will never see that kitchen. She will never decide, and execute to a result and a new kitchen.. Once finished, someone would want to see it, she would have people in for dinner, they would SEE the kitchen...and she would be "judged". But if she never decides, if it never really becomes a new kitchen? She can be "working on it" from now until the cows come home and there will never be judgement. By anyone, including her very own self. The reasons hardly matter. This isn't someone who just needs guidance broken into chunks of time and information, and limits she can process and manage. This is 100% the woman that never gets the new kitchen.: ) It may be butt ugly, it may be broken down, inconvenient. But it is one thing for certain: It is 100% familiar. For good or bad, familiarity can be incredibly potent. So potent in fact, that it can trap folks into the worst of anything in this life; kitchens, relationships...all. Not to mention, it keeps allllll the shrinks in business.
