building a Natural Swimming Pool / clay bottom swimming pond
Comments (10)Really neat. I live in Flour Bluff on the east side of Corpus Christi, and I am wanting to build a natural pond in my sandy backyard using clay and then lining the bottom with white rock and limestone. I want to make the pond look like the Comal River in New Braunfels ( a natural spring fed river) and plant it and stock it with plants and fish from the river. I live in a Zone 10A climate (nearly tropical) with an average annual low of about 31F. I have a tropically landscaped backyard, and I think having a natural spring looking pond would be awesome underneath my jungle canopy I am starting to grow in the backyard. I would like to make the pond about 10 - 12 feet long, about 8 ft. wide and about 4. 5 - 5 ft. deep. with a small waterfall and filtration for the fish and aquatic life. I would like to power this with a small solar panel attached to the fence or the roof of the house (where it can get some sunlight). Any suggestions? Thanks, John...See MoreThoughts on removing an inground swimming pool
Comments (55)Alisonn, I had a pool removed too when I bought my house here in NJ. There is a requirement from NJDEP that your removal company needs to comply with. Basically it concerns the fill material that gets put into the hole, how large the pieces are from the concrete that is broken up and put back into the hole, etc. In Atlantic county, I needed a demolition permit, and then had to get inspections once the pool was removed and the cement chunks put into the hole, then again after the final fill was completed. $3500 is a good price. Mine cost $5500 to remove. Good luck!...See Morehow much the cost of building a swimming pool 4mx15m?
Comments (0)I want to invest in building for my children a swimming pool area of about 4mx15m do not know the cost of building much? I have consulted a number of contractors building swimming pool, including a contractor named SEAPOOLVN, address: 78 Ha Huy Giap, Thanh Loc Ward, District 12, Ho Chi Minh City. HCM, by engineer Nguyen Dung cheapest quote, about $ 50,000 do not know the price so reasonable? In fact, I find the price is too high compared to the original plan...See MoreHas anyone added a swim up bar to an existing pool?
Comments (3)Adding bar stools in the pool is feasible. If a contractor is SUPER NEAT and protects the existing plaster during this process, you may not need to re-plaster. You could tile the bar stools for an easier "blend" into the existing plaster. Trying to plaster them the same color as the pool may not have the same color results. Besides, it makes the bar stools very noticeable for safety and provides a nice accent contrast. As far as the work planned adjacent to the pool is concerned, your best course of action is to hire a structural engineer to see if it's possible. One who has experience with swimming pools. If the pool is new, the building department would and should have a structural detail of the pool to show particulars such as wall thickness and re-bar used, etc.. Based on an engineer's advice, you can move forward on pricing the job to see if it fits your budget....See MoreOnePlan
