Sideboard Colors

Just had our dining room farm table revamped with a new color, and I’m trying to now decide on color ideas for an old dresser we’re turning into a sideboard. It’s a project piece that I’ll also be revamping. Will be using a solid color vs a distressed look. I’ve included a picture of the table, with more in the comments, sideboard, two sunburst we have on the wall (that’ll be on either side of the sideboard), and also the color & pattern schemes throughout the house (same colors in the floral and ikat prints. Soft turquoise).

I’ve just started the dining room, so I currently only have the table, sideboard and starbursts. I know how I’ll be decorating the room further, but just need a few tips on the sideboard.

I was thinking a soft muted blue for the sideboard before seeing the fabric and I think that would be perfect.

So I met with the architect today. I am starting to have second thoughts about moving the bathroom. He suggested leaving it as is. He thought I could take out the shower and drywall in the door to the dining area so it is sound proof. Then, I could put a large pocket door (5.5 ft.) to open the room up. Unfortunately it won't open the view out the office slider as much as I would have wanted but I think it might be the best (and cheapest) soon. thanks everyone so far. yes erinsean, i agree, i dont like the mirror or the plant. is there too much black in the room? i really only need to hold onto the chairs, i can return the table and sideboard so i am all ears for ideas. does anyone like this sideboard instead? https://www.cb2.com/trace-wire-mesh-cabinet-credenza/s492239 its only 6" wider but maybe if we take down the mirror (and get rid of the tree) it wont look so odd. or maybe just shelving instead of a sideboard altogether? i want it to be more modern, fresh, young. we are a young family with 2 little kids. i know the black chairs are super heavy so is there any way to lift it a little (if that makes sense)? sorry, i suck at design and am so grateful for everyone's help and opinions!

I think white would be great for your sideboard. I would not introduce a third color through the furniture. My focus would be on finding a fantastic piece or two of art to go above it. I love your rug and classic style. The dining room is very pretty.

With the darker floor, you may want to warm up everything in the dining room. You might start by staining the chair legs a warmer color. Change the cool gray rug to one in warmer tones like your wall color. We can't see the sideboard/bar cart you referenced. It may be a matter of what you can get your hands on unless you're willing to shop second hand &/or paint said items.

Check out Annie Sloan chalk paints. They have blues that would work plus you can mix colors to get the shade you want.
