Kitchen Backsplash Advice Please!
Comments (11)In my galley kitchen, the stove is also very close to the wall - about 6". My contractor wanted to wrap the backsplash around the corner, but I felt that would violate the "galleyness" of the kitchen and make the space look closed-in. Like, your eye would "stop" on the tile instead of extending onward...if that makes any sense. I read here that people have had very good results with Benjamin Moore matte finish paint being scrubbable in their kitchens, so I went with that for my window wall. (There's so little wall showing in a galley kitchen!) Also, I was less worried because I don't cook much, and most of my cooking (such as it is) is on the burner furthest from the wall. If you do decide to wrap the tile around, I think you would have to do it on both sides. I don't know about going all the way up or not... questions like that definitely contributed to my deciding to do it the way I did! By the way, I *love* your kitchen! The cabinets are beautiful, and nice choice of appliances. :-) Question - it looks like your left sink base door is blocked by the radiator cover - is it really, or is that just an artifact of attemping to take photographs in such a small space? ;-)...See MoreHow bad is this tile job?
Comments (7)You have probably already given the contractor more money than he deserves for such lousy work. Insist on a re-do and file a complaint with your state's home improvement commission so legal action can be taken if work isn't redone to your satisfaction. If you don't have a state commission, research what consumer protections are available in your state to help you have the work corrected by the contractor or to receive money back to have it done correctly by another contractor....See Morecountertop with cream cabinets kitchen and backsplash advice please!
Comments (31)If you like blue, you might try using a blue gray finish on your island cabinets only? It seems like so many try to attain a finished kitchen that reminds one of the old sienna color photographs. No one really wants to live in shades of brown and gray all over the world. That can be monotonous. I really like the backsplash slocoja shared in her photo. I bit of shiney is really pretty with the silver chrome appliances, but maybe limit it to one or 2 lines thru the center of your backsplash, and than use the choice for your countertops in the backsplash. I think you might enjoy that more long term. Especially since you have so many different heights of window frames, cabinet trim, lines of molded cabinet doors and vertical lines in your windows... Do a couple of lines of your silver, or even a dusty blue or blue gray even if you can find it(goes with any other color you can think of for the next 3 decades, like blue jeans do? LOL) if you like that amongst the backsplash which matches your counter top, and let your island be the color you have planned in your picture if so... That way your eyes won't tire of all the movement in the kitchen, so many angles on your backsplash, the reflection etc.. I would do it at the height that splits your outlets in half, one to 3 lines of horizontal mini tiles. Very pretty!!...See MoreAdvice Needed on Kitchen Tile Back-Splash and LVT/LVP Flooring Color
Comments (5)Hi Chispa, House is a townhouse built in 1996, trying to modernize the look. As far as decorating style, I like modern/contemporary, nothing too funky. Something that would be cohesive with the rest of the kitchen, and bring the kitchen to life a little. It's very white right now....See More- 6 years ago
