Guest room decorating
Room is small and has medium brown hardwood floors.

5 years agolast modified: 5 years agowhat else is in the room,,,can't see the dresser. instead of pulling the quilt up to the pillows, make it look nice and get some pillow shams in one of those colors on the quilt. something in a pink velvet would compliment it.
the artwork on the walls do nothing to enhance the space. there is no chair, or bench along the other wall,,,plain white mini blinds needs some sort of drapes. hang the rod higher over the window and do some sheers or something. like this pic
bring in a rug to go under the bed,,,maybe paint the wall behind the bed one of the darker colors in the quilt, leave the others white,,,,do a nice hanging light.
bring in a vintage chair, paint it pink or gold, can't see the style of the dresser, so I don't know what it is, but a 1950's walnut dresser would be a better match in here.
this dresser plays up the tones in the quilt a lot better than what you have.
take some cues from the way they've done these rooms.
paint colors,,,,something very soft if doing the entire room

if you want to try the accent wall behind the bed, leave the walls white or that Oyster shade and try to pull out a deep color from the quilt.
or even one of the medium pink shades

Comments (6)is it double duty room? need for it to function as an office too? or do you want to convert it to guest room only? what has to stay in a room? what has to go? something you're especially attached to? remodel and decorating are two different things..I take it you want to restyle it rather than remodel? am I correct? the room has a good potential...love the floors determine the function you need to get out of it, and tell us a bit more about your preferences (style? color? anything we can know in order to be more helpful?) I imagine you'd need more lights..window treatments(even though I don't know whether you need them for privacy etc. But they'd make the space softer). Comments (28)Larger lamps and these days, I make sure there is easy/obvious access for charging devices. Sometimes in the lamp ;-) In general, lamps should have enough presence to meet the headboard. Usually this means they are about as tall as the headboard. Often, I simply flat stack two pillows on each side and use one long lumbar as an accent or two Euros. I think we all "over-pillowed" for a while there and as a guest, I prefer not to have to move and remove all the darn pillows. Especially if the only place to put them is on the floor because our stuff is all spread out on the only available surfaces. A luggage rack is a good idea,so is a bench. Your room looks like it is coming together really nicely. I would want to soften up the windows,maybe a faux roman if those are permanent shades. You'll see white duvets, white pillows, quilt/ coverlet, and colored throw pillows. Nothing conveys a fresh clean bed than WHITE bedding. Fold your quilt as above and pull 1 or 2 colors from it for an accent pillow, and maybe bedskirt.
