White spots on leaves!

Happy Mother’s Day to all!1

i have a question about these ‘water’ spots on these leaves. It doesn’t happen to all my plants just a couple different ones. I have tried everything I know to remove them and yet when the leaves dry it has that white film again. Does anyone have any suggestions on what works for you that I might try.

I've received a lot of hoyas with hard water spots. New growth comes out shiney and beautiful. My tap water doesnt leave too much of that build up.

I assume you don't have access to rainwater. If it bothers you that much, maybe try a light solution of vinegar or citric acid. I would only do one leaf first to see if it causes any damage.

From the pictures it looks like you are growing them indoors? I don't have any experience with that. But maybe Nancy (Petuniafish) will chime in if that's the case. She is a pro indoor grower. It outdoors tho, and maybe this applies, I would cut off all the old leaves and spray it down with Bayer 3 in 1. Then cut back water and put it in bright shade and work it back into the sun/more frequent water when new leaves form.

Have you eliminated the possibility of insects? One of the brown areas is similar to a burn or underwatering in high heat but unlikely based on your location description of north facing window. While not directly related I would look for a more sunny location to keep the plant.

basil hard white spot on leaves

beyond leaf curl, my basil recently developed some hard white spots. Help on fixing the cause? Additional details: live in basement, using a pretty strong grow light, average temp is 74, humidity around 55(by using dehumidifier).

Thank you Jake, we don’t get a lot of rain here, I have tried the vinegar and that did not work, thank you again for the suggestion.

Hey Dee, google "Brand X Foliage Cleaner" (sorry I can't link it, I'm on a work computer). It's an amazing, non-toxic foliage cleaner that gets rid of most hard water spots, while also making the leaves "slippery" enough that mealy bugs and scale cannot adhere to the plant. I literally can't say enough good stuff about the product and use it on all my (non-fuzzy) plants.
