I was actually suggesting the row of six smaller transom windows BECAUSE of the small garage windows. Was thinking that multiple small transoms would reflect and extend the small garage windows creating a strong horizontal band near the top of the house which would be very "prairie style." As for the doors themselves, perhaps I was misinterpreting the drawings. I thought they showed very simple doors with a large (3/4) stained glass insert in a Frank Lloyd Wright inspired design. Something like the various stained glass images seen on the linked page. If so, I don't think the doors are too complex but I would think you would want complementary stained glass in the side panels and transoms (regardless of whether you split the center panel or leave it long) rather than clear glass. dino, pretty door. It will dress up your hallway very nicely and will fit with your traditional/transitional decor just fine. I think it will add a little sparkle to your somewhat plain facade. It isn't like some doors that are so ornate & Victorian that they look out of place on a colonial-esque home. Yours is a nice choice. Hope you enjoy.

There is about a 95% chance that it is a solid, pre-hung unit if it less than 20 years old. Can it be done, yes. Will it net any real cost savings as compared to a door replacement, probably not. There are a handful of companies that come out and cut holes in a door to install glass, but those that would change out glass is few and far between. There is a custom nature to the glass sizes in those sidelites and transom that does not lend itself to the same production type approach and you will need to contract with a Glazier to do the work, if they even can.
