Comments (27)Shannon, thanks for responding again & sharing more about yourself and family. I feel you really understand both sides of the coin; being the one with the diagnosis and being the loved one of that person. You are a very compassionate person who can put yourself in others' shoes. Auntjen...thanks for the hugs and good wishes. I appreciated your support! Texanjana, thanks so very much for your empathy & for your prayers. There has been a new development. Day before yesterday when my sister went to get her chest x-ray for pre-admission/pre-surgery, they found "something" on her lung. Today she had a CT done. Just talked to Peggy and all they determined via the CT was that there is a "mass" on her lung. The details still remain sketchy. They want to do a "fine needle aspiration" & a PET scan next week. She needs to call Monday to schedule those tests as no one was around this afternoon to do that. They have cancelled the surgery for Tuesday. She's hanging in there! I think she's looking forward to having a quiet day at home tomorrow (no tests) to "chill out!" Then we'll all be over to bug her on Sunday! Hopefully by the end of next week we'll have a better idea of exactly what she has & how it should be treated. Again, thanks to each of you for your interest, support and prayers....See MoreMay is Motorcycle Awareness Month
Comments (20)Celticmoon, Your post made me smile. And unfortunately riding on the back just isn't the same once you've been riding your own (but I agree with you wholeheartedly on the doing nothing & being close to your better half part). When I was pregnant my OB told me that I had to stop riding & I told her that I'd ride until my leathers didn't fit anymore. And that's exactly what I did. When the pants got to tight I switched to chaps but by the time I started my 6th month I was pressing too hard against the tank. I ride a Triumph Speed Triple & the sportbike riding position is definitely an issue. I know women that ride cruisers that kept on riding through their 8th month. I would always take mental inventory before I'd contemplate a ride & if I felt like I had the least bit of cotton headed pregnancy brain I'd skip it. We went to the International Motorcycle Show about a week before the baby was due & my husband got some pictures of me sitting on the bikes. It was hysterical, trying to reach around the belly to get to the handlebars. Since the baby was born (healthy, happy & none the worse for his prenatal bike rides) our riding has been curtailed drastically & I miss it so much. All of our vacations were motorcycle oriented, the majority of the time simply loading camping gear onto the back of the bikes & riding for a few hundred miles. The Speed Triple is a great bike but it's not a touring bike so I came up with numerous ways to stay comfortable (corrective underwear) for hours upon days in the saddle. My husband and I are obsessed with vintage British motorcycles so ours is a whole different level of insanity :-). Nina...See MoreIn honor of breast cancer awareness month...I'm done!
Comments (27)Thanks. There are literally no other words I can say to express how I deeply your support has helped me. The other day my friend's 12yr dd asked me if I was cured. I had to pause a while because that has actually been on my mind a lot. I asked my dh when I am considered a survivor. He said after 5yrs. But once I stop taking the 5yr meds things could come back. So I very kindly explained to the girl that there is no way to really know. I will be watched closely and hopefully it is gone and never comes back. She simply said, "Oh." So I guess the best way to look at all this is that I am surviving every single day, one day at a time. I truly wonder, sorry to say but I think honesty is important amoung friends, that one day I will wake up with another lump and die the next day. It is not a fear that ruins my daily life, but it is a deep down heartfelt wondering that I think will just linger within me. I know many of you here have been in my same shoes and will assure me that life goes on. I know it does. Returning to work after 9months off is going to feel weird. Like I picked up where I left off. Kinda like I took a really long lunch break and now I am back to finish the days work. Like they say, life goes on. And so shall all of us. Again, thanks....See MoreSkin Cancer question
Comments (20)Isitdoneyet, the article was an eye opener. After viewing pictures of them I'm about 100% certain that's what it is. His isn't very noticeable like I saw in the pictures though, but still had the same description of AK's. you see in pictures. Maire, the physician's office called in and then the dermatologist's office called DH a couple of days later. I've never had to wait more than a week to see a specialist when my doctor's office calls it in. Lynn, I wasn't worried until I read that having AK on the head (bald area) is really bad, can even spread to the brain. I need to find more info on that. Plus, once you get it you are more than likely to keep getting it which means there's a good chance it will turn in to melanoma. Gscience, the spot isn't like that, but I often get tan like age spots that I can scrape off with my fingernail , mostly on my legs and upper arms. I had a doctor look at one about ten years ago and he said it wasn't cancer. Can you scrape them off? You all have been great with information. I'll definitely keep you informed....See MoreLindsey_CA
