What are these weeds and why are they shooting seed like things?

1) I have these weeds in the first two pictures ALL OVER my lawn this year. I didn't do pre-emergent because I don't want the extra chemicals. But I spot sprayed all of them with Weed-b-gone and it's been a week or two and they are turning brown and dying. But when you touch them they pop a whole bunch of seed like things out(i mean A LOT). So weird. Are they actual seeds and are they dead?

2) What are the green weeds in the last two photos. The weed B Gone didn't do anything. These are in a lot of spots as well, but not as bad.

3) I understand that corn gluten meal works as a pre-emergent. Can anyone attest to how well it works and where a good place to find at a reasonable cost?

It looks like the projected spores from artillery fungus to me. Do you have wood mulch under the plants? I've linked a picture of the mushroom (they are very small) below. Put a white index card near the wood mulch and see if it collects similar black dots. They won't hurt the plants, but don't park your car nearby. and that is why.. on a lot of weeds... pulling them up.. doesnt work ... i would slice the top off.. and DRIP drip undiluted roundup on it ... any piece left in the ground.. most likely ... will come back ... ken

Our county had a fire ban this year as did our small Village. That didn't stop two of our residence. And, one house on the highway shot off the noisy things from 5:30 until 12:00 a.m. It's ridiculous. Nothing like watching your money go up in smoke! We have 3 aerial fireworks shows around town. They have spectacular shows and they are free. I would think that it would be more appealing to let the city buy and shoot them off than to spend good money on them. I hate how many displaced animals they cause. We used to have a dog that was totally inconsolable on the 4th. Broke my heart to watch her salivate and shake with that crazed look in her eyes. I'm sorry your neighbors are that inconsiderate Kath. Thankfully the 4th was the only day we had to go through it.
