Please help with ideas for inside of kitchen cabinets
Comments (8)Thanks all. wonby - I'll definitely post pics when it's all done! msjay - sounds like an interesting idea - I'd love to see it when it's done. I'm keeping them, so not returning, since I can use them in the laundry room. My KD is really really nice and one oversight's no biggie, especially if there's an easy solution, like repurposing them. jeanne - in my research I found that painting melamine is totally do-able, you just need to use a good primer like BIN 123, or use "melamine paint" but the melamine paint can be somewhat trickier to work with, apparently. I am just happy I won't have to do it, in a way!...See MoreIf you've painted your kitchen cabinets, but not the inside of it
Comments (6)I painted my dark cab:nets BM White Dove. I painted the backside of the doors, but did not paint the inside of the cab:net boxes. I'm satisfied with how they came out ~ or I was. I've had them for 7-8 years and they are looking pretty banged up so I'm ordering new cabs in the next week or so. My SIL painted her cabs and didn't do the back of the doors and I think that is a mistake, but I would not take the time to paint the inside of the boxes, I doubt anyone will notice....See MoreHELP ~ Need Microwave to fit inside kitchen cabinet!!
Comments (11)You'd be better off modifying a base cabinet for something like that. You're going to need more depth than an upper can provide. And remember that it IS a safety issue to enclose any appliance that is not meant to be built in into cabinetry. I'd have an electrician create a "kill switch" outlet for the MW so that it couldn't operate with the doors of the cabinet closed. Because, that WILL happen if you have family members who aren't careful. Or you could consider one of the "space saver" type micros that are meant to hang from an upper cabinet and just shorten an upper cabinet enough to keep it inline with the lower edge of the other cabinets. That would be the simplest solution, and the safest because they already make a MW for that application. Any other solution does involve a bit more expense and risk on your part....See MorePainting Inside Kitchen Cabinets
Comments (2)Are the cabinets now painted on the inside? If not, don't do it!. You can most likely clean them up with a bit of mineral spirits if they are wood, or a good household cleaner if they are melamine. They will have to be thoroughly cleaned before painting anyway, so clean first and the decide. Remember - good shelf liner will hide nicks and stains....See MoreSarah Walkington
