Suggestions on lighting for our great room
Comments (3)I'm not much help other than to say that at our old house the living room only had floor/table lamps and I did not like it. If the lamps were turned off, then having them on the switch didn't help you because I still had to walk into a dark room to turn them on. I like having a switch at the door to a room that I know will turn on lights. In our new house, we have recessed light and table/floor lamps. I didn't think we would use the recessed lights at all (we have 19'ceilings) and we included just to be sure we could always turn on a light when we entered the room. However, I use them often and am very glad to have them. We used four 6" recessed lights in our great room and they provide a lot of light--enough to read/sew by. If you don't like recessed lights, you could use sconces instead of recessed lights. Another alternative is a ceiling fan with a light kit. There is no right or wrong answer for you as lighting is all a matter of personal preference. Good luck!...See MoreNeed suggestions for LED general room lighting
Comments (7)Hey, I saw your post from a few days ago. My name is Sam. I work or a lighting company called RLA Lighting, they are based in the US. I saw this on our site and thought that it would be great for you. There are four individual lights that are very versatile in option direction lighting. It is also attached to the wall as you mentioned before this is necessary. Take a look at the image and link. If you have any more questions i would be more than willing to help. Good luck sam:) Here is a link that might be useful: RLA Lighting- track lighting...See MoreNeed help finding a light yellow and gray - great room
Comments (21)A sincere thank you for everyone's suggestions. The update is that I am settled on the Intense White (a light gray color) and am now trying to figure out the yellow. This is the latest one I tried is Creme Brulee, but the family agrees it is too pale or something: Still having trouble with my photos so it looks the yellow looks like a distant haze here, but hopefully it gives the idea. So the new ones we are thinking of trying are: Lemon Sorbet, Windham Cream and Weston Flax. They all seem more on the yellow side. Any thoughts on these? Might these go too yellow this time, rather than too orange like the Antique Yellow I first tried? I also still need to look at Linen White and Summer White. It looks like Lemon Sorbet might look nice with gray, which hasn't been an easy combo so far: Lemon Sorbet and Gray photo. I'll be glad to wrap up this yellow decision :)....See MoreWant to see pics of cathedral ceiling great rooms
Comments (42)Well, you need an attachment point above it. I sprayed the tree with anti-dessicant spray so it wouldn't dry out, drilled a 1/2" hole through the base of the trunk, put a rope through the hole, threw the rope over the support that it would be hanging from, and hoisted it up. Then I put on the lights and ornaments after it was in place. Wish I had a picture to show you, but can't find one right now....See MoreE K
