Alternative to Pottery Barn "PB Comfort" Couch?

I was ready to purchase two Pottery Barn "PB Comfort" couches in a Performance Tweed Fabric, until I found multiple Houzz threads about fabric piling issues. Yikes!

We really did love the style and feel of the PB Comfort, and with 3 young kids and a dog we like the idea of performance/sunbrella fabrics. We currently have microfiber, and while it has worn well, I'm ready for a change.

Any suggestions on an alternative to the PB Comfort, and/or fabric suggestions? Any particular retailers we should look into? Thanks!

Hmmm this is every parent's dilemma. Not sure if PB sells this sofa/fabric combo as resistant to a large house hold? There is a standard for fabric durability, here is some information regarding Double Rubs for Residential Applications.

Heavy Duty: 15,000+ double rubs. Suitable for family rooms.

Medium Duty: 9,000-15,000 double rubs. Versatile. Good for living or family rooms.

Light Duty: 3,000-9,000 double rubs. Usually better suited for formal or occasional use furniture.

Delicate Duty: Less than 3,000 double rubs. Recommended for more decorative use as in curtains, drapes or pillows.

I purchased a chair from Ethan Allen and had it upholstered in Sunbrella fabric. I am very happy with the finished product.

We have a Crate & Barrel sofa (the Troy, no longer a thing) that I ordered in a washable cotton Stock Plus Fabric ten years ago and it looks great. I just had it steam cleaned and the guy was like, "this is ten years old?" The fabric washes really well. Granted, the baby is almost 2 so he's only been doing his thing for part of the time...

I just toss the cushion covers in the washer and let them air dry. It's also red, and the color has held up against really bright sun for three years in our last apartment.

We are replacing the seat cushions now though.

It is a classic style and is quite comfortable but that style has been done a lot. I do not care for the loose upholstery they do with the sort of saggy leather. I am not sure that the cost is justified by the quality when compared to alternatives.

Denise-I did a google search yesterday when I saw your posting. There were good reviews on the PB webset and mixed reviews elsewhere--some bad. It's so hard to know. Do they have the sectional you are looking at at the store?? If so, that may give you an indication of how it might wear.

I have a pottery barn sectional that I bought in March. I bought it in the Twill cream fabric. i did the upholstered version, since I prefer the look. I have had to remove the covers from 2 cushions and have washed/dried them without issue. I have 3 dogs and both times the mess was from them. no issues with pilling, fabric looks great. Can’t tell which ones have been through the wash and which haven’t. It’s also one of the most comfortable sofas I’ve ever laid on! I got the PB comfort sectional with down pillows.
