Rug and Decorator help for Industrial/farmhouse living room
Comments (13)I have a pretty good imagination but industrial/farmhouse I cannot conceive of. Which of the two does "Pharmacie" represent or the giant D teetering on the edge of the mantel? I don't mean to be offensive, but the letter and word trend is one I never understood. A beautiful painting in one of many styles (and hung lower) would satisfy the eye more, methinks. I gather we're not allowed to suggest colors for pillows or rugs, or curtain panels, so I'm pretty much out of my element. I can envision the first and third rug there to help with all the dark colors, though. I'm curious how one cleans the one with the leather strips. I can imagine many cats being in seventh heaven with that one, though, or teething puppies....See MoreHelp me identify this industrial Apothecary
Comments (8)Ah, you have posted a picture with the drawers open. This construction is typical of a parts cabinet found in machine shops. The drawer compartments are useful for storing various nuts, bolts, screws, washers, cotter pins, or whatever. If it was in a carpenter/wood shop, it would contain nails, wood screws, assorted parts, etc. If the cabinet was in a plumbing shop, it would be filled with plumbing fittings. Notice that each compartment in the drawers have louvers for identification cards....See MoreHelp me identify vintage/antique industrial cabinet
Comments (4)There were companies that made lots of similar cabinets for trades, metal, wood, plumbing and various other shops. Most of these cabinets either had a small piece of metal attached somewhere or the name of the company was stamped into the metal. Without examination in person and finding marker I doubt if anyone on here can help you. In its present condition it appears that it is useful for what it was intended. Storing things. There is one difference between this one an the ones in the school shop 50+ years ago and that is the name holders on the inside. It makes me think that they were not originally there but something that was cut to fit. Whatever would be placed in the drawers in order to see the name would need to be very short as the labels should be above the item. Enjoy and use it as a now rustic metal cabinet....See MoreThe meat industry’s supply chain broke. Here’s what you need to know
Comments (51)maifleur, my meat processor doesn't buy any animals and process them himself or even raise his own, he only processes meat for people who raise their own and then pay him to process it to their specifications. So, if I sell you half a beef, I call Carl and tell him that I have a beef coming, half of it belongs to Maifleur and then you call and tell him how you want it packaged. I have people come to the farm specifically to see "their" animal and the living conditions before they commit to buying beef. And, by using a custom slaughter facility, I can confidently tell them that the animal they see is the animal they will get back, because Carl has no animals of his own, only those who are raised by and packaged for other people. Those of us who have done business with him for years, and with his father before him, know and trust him. As for migrants and immigrants, Michigan is the 2nd most agriculturally diverse state in the country, behind only California, so those of us in agriculture are acutely aware of the importance and value of those workers and how difficult it is to even find enough of them to work. When I was a teenager one of my summer jobs was picking cherries for 40 cents a lug. I have also picked asparagus, pickles, apples and tomatoes. Today's teenagers don't want to do that, and more jobs such as fast food service are available to them today that were not available to me. There has been years when apples rotted on the trees and cherries became over ripe because there were not enough workers to pick them and the food pantries can only glean/store so much fresh produce.
