What is your favorite Shampoo and Conditioner
Comments (22)In the case of shampoos, if you color your hair, you should spend the extra money on shampoos that protect your color. Unfortunately I have found most inexpensive shampoos and conditioners contain alcohol, and even some of the more pricey (like Pantene)have alcohol. Look at the ingredients. If it has alcohol, it will strip your color and ultimately dry out your hair. Many inexpensive conditioners make your hair feel conditioned because they contain wax which does nothing but coat the hair. The combination of wax and alcohol will ultimately require you to use more product and wonder why your hair is so dry without it. There was a special on one of the news shows (I think 60 minutes) that exposed the fact that many of the products we buy today like conditioner and lotion actually contain ingredients, like alcohol, that do the opposite of what you think they should. What good is a moisturizer or conditioner that drys you out?...See MoreShampoo/Conditioner that adds body?
Comments (20)Ded, my hair sounds like yours. Lots of it but very fine and I don't even have the slightest bend to it -- it's stick straight. I have found that the key is a good haircut, although obviously the right products also help. I feel like I've tried them all. I used to LOVE Bumble & Bumble Gentle Shampoo several years ago when I got it from the salon. It made my hair seem more bouncy, somehow. Then I stopped using it for a few years, rediscovered it and bought it again -- but it didn't seem to work the same magic. It seems that no matter what I do, my color treated hair (which is colored the same as my natural color, brown with a hint of red) gets lighter, almost brassy looking, within a few weeks after coloring....See MoreConditioner only?
Comments (23)Cookie8- I've been shampooing my short hair once a week, and mid-week I use Renpure Originals"Coconut Cream" Conditioner (http://www.renpure.com/product-category/originals/coconut-cream/ - I buy it at Wal-Mart) - NO SHAMPOO - plus 4-5 drops of peppermint oil as a deep treatment. I've been trying this method for several months. As my hair is getting more salt than pepper, it's changed how I need to treat it. I think I could easily go the Conditioner/Peppermint Oil treatment once or twice a week in the winter and skip the shampoo. And to think I used to shampoo my short hair daily.... Especially in the summer when working outside a lot. TOOTHPASTE: I don't use toothpaste, but I use a dry brush method to clean and remove plaque, flossing, plus oil pulling with coconut oil each morning as soon as I get up. I used the Zellies Dental System for many years, but decided I didn't want all the chemicals: Crest toothpaste, Listerine, ACT fluoride rinse, and Zylitol gum or mints between meals (http://www.drellie.com/)....See MoreNo place for soap or shampoo in shower?
Comments (53)I have too many bath products (7 bottles and a liquid soap pump) for a wire showerhead rack to work well. Tried one, but it looked messy, and the hose of the hand-held knocked things out of it. The ancient tub (1943, but in perfect condition) of the tub/shower combo has sides so narrow that the tub corners can barely hold a razor. Solution: a pretty, medium-sized basket atop a very small stool (7" tall x 9" wide x 14" long) stationed beside the rear corner of the tub. The bottles don't show above the top of the basket, which is just high enough to be within easy reach, yet low enough to clear the towel that hangs above it. That was an easy fix. The harder fix for this 5' x 7' bath is recreating the lavender-speckled tile. All the bathroom walls are tiled to either ceiling or chest height. When DH removed the ancient 24" vanity (NOT in perfect shape), we found the original owners had tiled AROUND it. The new one fits the space differently, leaving naked wall board exposed. If I have to make tiles to fill these gaps, I might as well make enough to tile that corner completely so as to have the future option of installing a pedestal sink. So I need 48 pieces to install where the vanity used to be. I think I've managed to mix hobby paint for ceramic to the right shade (about a quart of it) and now have only(!) to perfect my speckling/spattering technique. Eventually it might be a cute little bathroom....See Moreeld6161
