@go_figure01 I was looking at Republic and then just discovered Johnson Hardwood Vinyl yesterday. Which color did you end up getting? How is it holding up?

@clubnev Thanks for the info! Hot and humid here in Houston as well especially when power goes out. I finally ponied up a did a whole home generator to avoid being out of power around hurricanes and freezes. Did you notice that when your whole First Crush floor went in the flooring warmed compared to sample boards or laying out a single box? In certain areas of my home samples/sample boards will grey up in the day with certain natural light, but at night under 2700K lighting.... Wow...perfect light brown floor with no wheat, yellow, gold, or orange.

We are replacing vinyl flooring in the basement kitchen and out into the dining area and in front of the back door. See pictures. - separate basement apartment but we have taken over the whole house and want to use the basement for entertainment. We have carpet which we plan to get cleaned professionally. The carpet is 18 years old but on 2 occasions, we were told that the quality is high end. We want to keep it. We like carpet. The question is, any suggestions in colour? We have 2 paisley recliners (see pictures). The couch we have yet to decide on. We have one currently but is covered with Sure fit covers. We do not want to invest ridiculous amounts of money and intend to move in the next few years but during this time, we want to enjoy it. Thank you.

The kitchen cabinets will be driving the bus since they're a fixed element. If you don't want to repaint you also need to consider the wall and trim colors. There are no shortcuts to this process. Remove a door or drawer in the kitchen so you can take a piece of cabinetry into a flooring store to compare to the choices available. When you think you have an option, bring home the sample board so you can see it in the light you have at home. The lighting in stores is rarely the same as natural light or home lighting. If you make a mistake you will be going down a slippery slope where the cabinets won't look good anymore, so you'll want to remodel the kitchen, and the walls will need to be painted . . . (if you give a mouse a cookie). Unless the use of LVP in houses at your price point in your area is the norm you will be making a mistake changing hardwood to LVP. In my area it is only used in basements, or in lower end condos and flips. Another option might be to refinish the existing wood and have wood installed and site finished to match in the currently carpeted areas. I don't know exactly what you have, so get a professional opinion and bid. Maybe one of the flooring contractors who occasionally comment here will weigh in.
