Hi everyone,

Resanding our red oak flooring's so I put together a sample board using some pieces to see how the colors will look. I sanded these boards in the same order as the main rooms 36-60-80 grit (belt sander for sample) and then hand sanded 100 grit. I have a total of 6 boards in the sample. On the left 3 boards I wiped them down lightly using mineral spirits and let dry (will be using poly as final coat x2). I noticed my rag came back with a bit of yellow. Our oak flooring had been previously stained. I only wiped the boards once. The right 3 boards were not wiped. I then stained all 6 boards with Duraseal Quick Coat and let it sink in for 2-4 minutes as per the instructions, then I wiped off with a clean rag and dried over night.

Today I noticed some white spots/discoloration in a few spots. It's as if the stain was rejected or something came back out of the boards overnight. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what the cause is?
