The "box" mail order companies usually do send out smaller plants. They will tell you what size pot it should be shipping in. The more private mail order nurseries will send bigger potted plants. However, you do pay a lot more for the larger plant. MI Bulb Co. is awful IMO. It is an affliate of Spring Hill Nurseries and Brecks. I have ordered from all 3 companies. Spring Hill sends smaller plants as I usually dont upgrade to the bigger pot. However, I expect them to be smaller for the price. All my plants have taken off from them, my bulbs as well. Plus, I have found their customer service excellent. I placed 4 seperate orders from Brecks this summer, and all my spring bulbs look great. I recieved my first order from MI Bulb today. AWFUL!!!! They packaged the items awfully. I had ordered 12 Cushion Mums which they put in solid, paper bags that were stapled shut. These were placed on the bottom of the box with no bubble packaging between them and the 9 bags of heavy bulbs. The Mums were smushed. Plus, they were twigs! They consisted of a 4" stick with a few leaves, and a bloom. They arrived so late (ordered in June/July) that due to their size who knows if they will survive the winter. I will mulch them heavily and hope. My spring bulbs arrived fine from the company, but lets see how they perform this spring. I ordered an Oriental Lily Bag. These bulbs were the smallest Lily bulbs I have seen. The largest bulb was the size of a half dollar and the rest even smaller. Lets see if those will flower the first year. The craziest thing is this past summer I bought flower bulbs from Family Dollar. They sold 2 Stargazer Lillies for 2.50, 2 Stella D Oro Daylilys for 2.50, and 12 glads for the same price. Plus, tons of others. All my plants from them bloomed and grew like crazy the first year. My lily bulbs were huge from them..... Danielle

Somebody please remind me next year not to put all my ws containers right under the bird feeder... LOL yes you can laugh at me, luckily I can tell in most cases what is millet and sunflower seeds sprouting, and what is ws perennials. :0) LOL, oh dear! Check out the mother WS forum, Trudi has a method called HOS, I've planted a few so far, they're about 2" high. I really don't have a rule of thumb, I just plant as I go. I think I finished planting around July last year. LOL Sharon

I planted a Stairway to Heaven last year right next to a huge tree root that is in my garden. In the summer it faded in the heat and disappeared but reappeared this spring in all it's glory. It's is a spring plant and could even be a spring ephemeral. This is the 2nd plant I planted. The 1st didn't come back but it was in a different spot. Many plants dislike the high heat of summer and this plant prefers a lightly shaded spots.

Good Morning All; I discovered even more seeds in my package, not too bright!! What amazes me is how well Chris cleans her seeds and marks her packages. I am not that good. I leave a significant amount of chaff in some of my smaller seeds. There was a time when that was recommended as it is easier to sow them if they do not all fall out of the package at once. At least that is my rationale and since I am challenged at cleaning seeds, "that is my story and I am sticking to it. What that means is that I have sent Chris seeds but they will need a final cleaning before she can plant. She certainly seems up to the task but I feel bad about it. Sorry Chris.
