Funny, I had looked at that Eddie B jacket too, so you’re all on the right wavelength here so far! I have found cute jackets at Boden in the past too, but didn’t see anything I liked recently.

We traveled a fair amount lately and I saw many stylish women wearing slip on tennis shoes with "going to lunch" and business casual type outfits.

The shoe issue is even harder. I have the same issue; shoes to wear w jeans and chinos when it is not winter and it is too soon for sandals (cold toes!).

Spring shoes are very difficult since, like you, I’m mostly an ankle boot or sandal person. I don’t like flat shoes, I need a small lift. I might go strictly fancy sneaker, or as we call them tv watching shoes since they’re not for for any athletics, for my spring and fall shoe wardrobe (like ^^^^).

I feel your pain on the shoes. All the not summer but more spring type shoes I liked were over $700.

I love the utility jacket d_gw posted. I went shopping for some new things, tops mostly, to replenish my pitiful wardrobe and I kept being reminded that the problem with spring clothes is the spring colors. I just cannot do pastels and gauzy florals.

So I ended up ordering the Talbots jacket, too hard to resist with an extra 30% off! I like that it appears to be slightly A-line (works for my pear shaped body).

Still looking for the shoes. Might have to go with a pair of clogs! I had some cute navy clogs that I wore for several seasons but I can’t seem to find them in my house!

I think clogs like these are cute, but what do you do about socks? No socks, or just make sure your socks coordinate well with the shoe?

Look Lands End, LL Bean, Eddie Bauer. Can't go wrong. Well, I dunno about Eddie Bauer lately, but I have gotten cute reasonable jackets at the other two places recently. Talbots has some cute jackets in the classic style and materials. As per usual for my Talbots experience, some horrible ones, but some cute ones in there! I need jackets to be washable with my dirty, clumsy lifestyle, YMMV.

I am already in sandals, slides, etc. here. As we get closer to summer, I cannot stand to wear closed toe shoes, nor do we have a need for jackets, so I can't help you there. Go back to the shoe thread that was on here a few weeks back. There were several pairs of cute shoes. I have bought two pairs of "slides" with about an inch or so heel and a couple of pairs of chunky heel sandals which is what I would wear with bootcut jeans. I quit wearing jeans as it warms up here, other than shorter lengths and they have to be a lighter weight. I do wear wedge heel shoes which there are some of those that would work with jeans.

I think they would look funky with socks (which may be ok... I am soooo *not* funky that I cannot opine). If you google them, can you find how others have worn them? But also, without socks, would they rub? Can you try them on somewhere? You may need socks to protect your foot. For my part, my feet are too white this time of year to highlight them in maryjanes, esp with a strong color, so I would go w socks.

I don't know -- they are on their way - just bought them last night! Sue's fault. I am looking for shoes that you can wear with jeans or chinos at a time when winter shoes look wrong but it is too soon for "sandals" (read, anything that does not keep my toes covered). Typically in New England you need these in April and May, sometimes part of March, sometimes part of June. If I don't find them soon, it will become moot!

Of the three shoes posted above, only one looks casual enough for jeans/khakis/chinos to me. Like Sue said, if you want some heel, clogs seem to be the only casual shoe that is not a boot or a sandal.

I did look around last night and it seems to me that platform or wedge sneakers are one possible solution. FWIW, here are some other contenders; all have a 2.5" "heel" iirc.

I love the perforated Vionics every time I see them and would love to have them in pink. I haven't been able to make myself pay the price though, especially since I would be so limited to what I could where them with in pink.

msrose - I have the perforated Vionics (I posted the picture earlier in this thread) in grey, a great neutral color. If you're going to spend the money, I'd get the grey. Goes with just about anything.

Jennifer, I love that style shoe --- have similar from Anthro --- but it does not fit my idea of a spring casual shoe, because for me that means my toes must be covered.

I'm late to this, and I know you've purchased a jacket, but I just wanted to say that I love the tweed Anthro one Mtn posted near the top. I like the Eddie Bauer one too, I may order that one for myself. My most favorite traveling dress ever is from Eddie Bauer.

I also have those Vionic shoes in black. IMO they're worth the price, especially if you have a need for enhanced arch support / orthopedic shoes.

Eld, I am still trying to figure that out. Because they have a lot of visual weight, I think they would look odd with a skinny ankle jean. I know kids would wear them with dresses even, but I just feel it needs balance. I did wear them with skinny khaki jeans but there the shoe almost blended with the pants. Will have to see.

It's just that with those jeans, the shoe looks orthopedic. (Sorry)

I think the trick is that you need to see the whole shoe.
