The pinky one in the bottom photo resembles a 'Perle von Nuremberg' Echeveria in very poor health. Not the easiest Echeveria to grow.

Kelsey, the last one looks to be in a terrarium. It probably won’t live long in those conditions as succulents need dry not humid conditions. It could be rotting already. If you want advice about repotting it, just ask.

Yes when I got the echeveria it had scars all over it and it is in a glass terrarium but it is open in a portion and I was told that they would be fine as long as I don't overwater them which I did when I first got it because I didn't yet know how to take care of them so I had to remove some leaves that had started dying. I've been trying to figure out what they are so I know how to take care of them. I really don't want to lose it it's my favorite one. The blue succulent is not in a terrarium though

Poor poor plants , they are suffocating. iIdo not give them long to live if you keep them in there. This fashion of succulent torture is pitiful.

I'm pretty new to the whole succulent thing but I read on succulents and sunshine that glass terrariums were fine for them as long as they are not overwater because of no drain holes. How are they suffocating? It's not humid in there they're not outside they're in air conditioning most of the time

Sorry to disappoint you, and nobody blames you for having that info - but growing succulents in terrariums is a nonsense. That seems to be a fashion fad lately (same as spray painted succulents...).

Yes, web is full of instructions, and many really beautiful photos of succulents arranged in glass bowls and terrariums. But they do not tell you truth: that it is suitable for a short display. I may do it for occasion like a wedding or big garden party - but would disassemble immediately after. Beside bad drainage, there is excess humidity that will only speed up rotting - as visible on your Echeveria. You may not see it, and even open a part of it hoping for good ventilation, but air is stagnant inside. If you think of natural habiat of these plants, it is far, far from terrarium set up. Arid climate, with lots of natural light. Very grainy - rocky substrate, quite lean (not full of organic material). That is where these plants come from and evolved to live in those conditions.

Members here grow succulents to last, and be as healthy as possible. If you look at any photos on this forum, you'll see that there is always open container with a mix that contains perlite, pumice, grit, and similar substrates (in different combinations - as available).

If you like terrariums, there are plenty of plants that like those conditions. But grow succulents in proper pots/containers with drainage holes and in fast draining mix.

Okay thank you! I'm going to get a new pot tonight, all of my others are in pots with the inner plastic piece for proper draining. I have them in the soil I received them in and they are doing fine, only one other plant I have seems a little bit sickly but it is because of the soil which I'm getting more of tonight. I'm hoping the Perle von nurnberg will come back to life but we will see. I will post updates.

When I buy a succulent , I immediately remove it out of the soil it came in and give it soil to match my conditions. The soil they come in is usually a peat based soil designed to their greenhouse conditions where they are watered with lots of fertilizer and constant fungicide. The peat would dry to rock like conditions and become hydrophobic when I water once a week or once every 2 weeks. i am not understanding "inner plastic piece for drainage"

The soil they came in had perlite and seems to be draining well. And they're just basically a plastic pot which a lot of drainage that fits perfect inside of a normal clay pot so it can be inside without being messy. I will keep the ones I have that are doing well in this soil and if I see any changes in their health I'll change the soil.

When watering this pot, take it out of the outer pot when you water ir and let it drain well before putting it back in the pot. The perfectly fitting outer pot with out holes keeps the plants pot from draining causing rot.

...and I would add: tightly fitting cachepots do not allow air circulation. It would be better for plants if they were out of them.

I agree with Rina. Many of the ways that they sell succulents are meant to make neat appearance and dirt free, water containing package thaT is good for the table it sits on but is not good for the plant.

Are you saying that you have a plastic pot with drain holes that sits inside a ceramic pot WITHOUT drain holes? Still not good for the plant if that is the case - it will have a soggy bottom.

We're really not trying to give you a hard time.

Unfortunately succulents in terrariums are all the rage now. As others have said it's an ongoing problem, Simply put, these plants require air circulation & good drainage, neither of which are available in terrariums. That's the bottom line.

They get you to buy things that are cute but bad for the plant. The sales tactics of the market place are dependent on death of the plant because then the buyer comes back for more. The hole on your windowsill needs to be filled. If there is no hole and a healthy plant there, you will be less apt to buy. Little do they know, we are so addicted, that we will buy anyway, but buy a healthy plant that is not painted blue or crammed in a sales gimmick, but an unusual species. They would do better tickling that collector urge. Some gimmicks are glueing gravel around a collection of plants in a group pot. Do they not have roots to hold them in the pot? It is a definite planned death. Spray painting things unearthly colors. Straw flowers glued on a cactus so it will be forever in bloom. How tacky, both of them. Amazing healthy plants are not good enough.

It is how they came, Its just a pot liner basically. When I take them out to get their sun and water them I leave them out of the ceramic pot for hours while the water is absorbing. It's never 'soggy' inside or between the two pots and they are doing fine.

Do not only take plants out to dry out (but perhaps you mean out of the cachepots?) - if you have outdoor space, leave them outside for whole summer. Succulents need to be acclimatized to outside, and that could be accomplished in a week right now. After that, they will grow much better than indoors.

Your cachepots are very nice, I am sure displaying plants in them looks better than plastic pots, especially if you are using them as décor throughout the house (I wouldn't get any awards for décor, lol. Vast majority of my pots are plastic, few are terracotta). That is personal decision, but be aware that even if you don't see it heat will build up in that small space, can't escape and keeps plastic pot damp longer. Leaving them out (plastic pots) for few hours after watering definitely helps (while wouldn't do it with many plants I have). This is not a criticism, just helpful hints.

I do have outdoor space but the only area I could put them only gets afternoon sun unless I put them further under the deck and theyd get sun from about 5-8 but that's still isn't the best sun for them

There are holes in the bottom of those pots, right?

Yes all of them have drainage holes except for the terrarium but that just has some moss

I also did some more research and I believe the bluish looking succulent is an echeveria spica
